As I slowly build up the required exp, being new at this mayor-thing, I've been approached by one of my citizens with an interesting request.
This citizen has offered to provide 100k each in sponsorship if the city agrees to place trainers in/near his building on the city square, which is going to be the City University.
Okay, not much problem here, since we were thinking about having them all in about the same area anyway. But my question is this... Can trainers be placed INSIDE a public structure? I've never seen it done before, and I'm not sure it's a good idea to do it, but can it be done?
I don't have the skill yet, or I'd try it and post the results, if anyone else is interested. But, since I don't, and we've decided that banks are more important than trainers atm, I won't know for a good two weeks.

i remember taking down trainers our ex-mayor placed inside the city hall, so i assume you can do it inside civic structures. however, you can't place them inside player structures.
edit: i've placed trainers on the front porch of player structures (ie. ent trainer on the cantina steps), as long as it's not inside it's ok

I've placed trainers inside the City Hall but then preferred moving them outside again. I think they look pretty kewl around City Hall along with a few streetlamps.
I've also placed some on the steps to the cantina, the midical center and the mall (I've been added to admin).

Have they changed that? THe last time I tried to place a trainer inside a privately owned building (the Cantina that I was an admin on) I got a message telling me they couldn't be placed in player structures. I have been able to place them on the steps outside of buildings and in city hall and the cloning center etc.

I think its just like placing decorations. You can place decos everywhere, but not inside of buildings. If you get inside a house the map (Strg-M, I mean) get this other shape I would call (showing the plan of inside the building). You can place on the stairs and right before the door. You can also put a city lamp on the roof of a medium Tat style house, because its outside 
(and you cannot drop stuff on the normal way there). I have tried that and its still there. I never tried to place a trainer on my roof, but I think it should work.
