Thread: ID tent a Player City Structure: YES?/NO?

I believe that Image Designer Tents should be Player City structures placed by Master Image Designers. NPC cities already have enough traffic, therefore by moving and placing the tents inside player cities will spread the players almost evenly and improve their traffic and give the players one more reason to spend more time in our neglected cities.

Please /agree or /disagree by stating the reason, and try to stay on topic.

id vote for cantina additions.. or placeable terminals.. not an entire tent...

the tents are kinda fugly with no decoration in em... and jsut a whole slew of terminals....

one tucked off in a corner of a cantina... or possibly placed in a player owned house would be so much better...

Runesaber talked about this in a post recently.

Yes they want to add it eventually but it's not scheduled yet.

1/ Player City ID Tents

a) Why was the decision made to limit the ID tents to five NPC cities, only on the three main planets?
b) Are there plans to make ID tents available for crafting by Architects and placing by Master Image Designers in player cities?
c) If so, when could we expect to see them in the game?

The tents are currently limited to a small number of static locations in order to help ease the new changes into SWG in a way that the general playerbase would not have to spend a lot of time finding an Image Designer for their services. The tents provide a common place that all players will quickly learn to go to for their Image Design needs and reduce the frustration of tracking down a Image Designer. I wanted a enough locations toavoid creatinga complete bottleneck for Image Design services but few enough to not spread the existing Image Designer population too thin.

I do have future plans of allowing the Image Designer tent be placeable in player cities but I do not have a timeframe for when to expect that feature.

*Sigh*

That pretty much sums up my frustration with the game at the moment. Its a definite fact that player cities spread out the player base across the galaxy. This has become a big problem as the game has lost a lot of that 'crowded' feel - people like to feel like they are actually playing with other people.

So the devs response to this has basically been to hamstring player cities and give people more and more incentive to move back to NPC cities to spend their time. This is an unfortunate trend I see continuing and I believe it is taking a heavy toll on most player cities. I am the mayor of the largest city on my server, and day after day I find myself asking - why bother? Is my METROPOLIS actually going to be a place where people want to live and hang out, or is it mere a novelty where people have their residence and then go to some NPC outpost that offers more functionality that I ever could.

The devs need to make a decision here and either kill off player cities altogehter or give them the tools to compete with NPC cities on equal footing. This half-hearted balancing act they are trying to pull off here is just killing a lot of the social aspects of the game.

I wholeheartedly agree - they either allow player cities to function as they initially intended them to - or kill the off. It seems that most of the things implemented in this game are not 100% thought out .Witness the initial Jedi implementation, the continued nerfing and "fixing" of professions, the implementation then rollback of "experimentation Tuesday", the implementation of the holocrons, player cities, mounts, etc, etc, etc.

I would love for them to actually sit down before they make a change and say to themselves "what are all the possible consequences of this change we are implementing and how will impact on the game and the playing experience". This seems to be a question that never gets asked in the ongoing pursuit of SWG development.

The SpaceExpansion will further remove player cities from the action. The SE is only accessed at starports (which are denied to player cities).

This NPC-Exclusive structure effectively denies player cities the services of our Image Designers. We are trying to build communities. Didn't SOE claim that this was what player cities were intended to allow? Now they remove entire professions from us by making their 'killer ap' exclusive to NPC cities.

I have a Master Image Designer, and you won't catch me leaving my post in our city. I boycott stat migration, because this patch is a slap in the face to those who have been getting screwed for taking SOE at their word.

I also would like to be able to have a ID tent in town. We have a nice cantina community and normally IDs were made there.
So I say: yes

The player garage took time to get as well (3 months?) hopefully it's coming as a player structure (similar to cantina/med center).

I vote for terminals as well... or an add-on to an existing city structure. Those tents are just too big for what's in them.

from what I understand is that they placed the ID tents in player cities to get people used to migrating stats that way and they only placed the tents in heavliy traveled NPC cities..................I guess later when they think people are familiar enough with the tents they'll make'em player city tools..............which is really stupid because the whole concept of ID tents is really easy to understand..............
