Hi, i am the mayor of Runner City on Valcyn, and my city as become some what organized, do to a lack of coordination before i came into power there, i was wondering if any other mayors had tried to revamp the locations of buildings and such in a city to make it more appealing and how painstaking it was? Kind of interested to know how it would go if i was to possibly do it. Still not a for sure though, need to consent with the players in the city first. None the less i want to hear your stories of horror and or success.

Well, first off, everybody hates moving and its even worse if you have a vendor in a house.
Although I've never done it, I heard aboutand I like the idea of a mayor keeping 2 lots free so thatTHEY can placethe house(s) themselves and then transerfer structure.
I think it's kinda fun letting and helpingnew player place their own house, declare, make it public and pay maintenance. Chances are, they don't orient the house in the right direction...lol... But, overall, I think they feel more as part of a city if they did this themselves.
Anyway, the power should be in the hands of a mayor (who has been given consent by the player) to be able to click on a house, drag it, turn it or move itinto a better position without having to remove the contents, make sure there's sufficient money in maintenance and then destroy it just to move it over 5 feet.
I'm sure - there's a large number of Mayor and also citizens who would like to reorganize their city but it's more of a hastle - especially for older/larger cities

IA City (Chilastra) underwent a massive 'revamp' during its growing stage. We orginally were laid out in an open friendly type setting. Then.. we decided to enter the GCW at full speed. We redesiged the city to leave only one entrance. A complete fortress complete with faction bases in the middle. IA City was renamed IA Command Center.
The Fortress style better fit our PA's theme, even though everyone exploits it and walks through the wall anyways. Still looked better.
Its a very long process. The key I think is to sit down with your officers, friends, or whomever, and make sure they know the new layout. Then they should be the only ones that have Militia rights, and Free Zoning should be turned off. That way, citizens can find one of the officers and properally be relocated.
The major problem we incountered was citizens then no longer played anymore. There were several areas in our wall were we couldn't complete it until the maintence ran out in the house that was blocking us. Much time and patience, you'll get it. Just make sure you know what you want and how you want it.

We've recently completed reorganizing the city of New Haven Corellia on gorath. Let me tell you....... It was damn hard to do. First off, if the city is governed by council, the design phase alone can take weeks, if not months. Then when the time comes for implementation, houses need to be moved, areas designated as no build zones ect... Add to this the fact that we switched from a tent bazaar merchant area to a more conveinent mall type..... well, you see where i'm going with this.
I have to say though, that I loved the processes. The interaction between all of our citizens and their input throughout the process was amazing. The big payoff for me is when someone comes into the city saying they love the way it looks. Makes it all worthwhile

well I've been mayor since day one and I'm STILL reorganizing things. But everyone in the city knows that if I say move... they gotta move
It can be a long road or it can be a short one.
A lot depends on location, terrain, how many houses, how long it takes you to figure out where you want things, etc. etc.
I'm still trying to figure out how best to set up the city as we have rivers and trenches all over the city and such so I'm trying to maximize the space etc.
Not easy when you still want things to look cool

when i placed tour city hall, we already had a nice row of homes inclufing the PA. so all i did was put the city hall behind 1 row, and i nthe middle. (2 homes were outside the 150m range). then before any additional homes were placed, we had a Generic Pa placed next to the city hall, and that became the courtyards width. the length was extended to the city limits and marked with 2 statues.
its a very nice layout..
