I started a city and I am using my main as the politician temporarily, I only have 15 skill points left so I wanted to make my Alt the mayor, he already has politician. The people in my city, did not listen and they didnt vote for my alt, so my main gained 800xp that I didnt need, if I drop politician can my alt be the ONLY eligible mayor, or will the city fall apart if the mayor drops Politician?

nope. you're main will stay mayor until your alt is voted in by the citizens. dropping politician won't change that.

The ONLY way to change the Mayor is for the new Mayor to get more votes than any other candidates.

You can drop Politician skills, you can move house, you can delete the character, you can delete the account, it won't make a difference. The new character must be voted in (and the citizens must actively change their votes for this to happen) to become the new Mayor.

Kinda odd if the mayor can't choose to not run for mayor if there is another player running for mayor.

Makes changing mayors a nasty thing even if the change is planned...
