Thread: Not all XP granted.

I see posts where no xp was granted but on this weeks update I only got partial xp. I had 2400 prior to the election. We have 87 citizens and my new total is 7400. Is there a 5k xp grant cap? When we were switching mayors I got 100 xp for each vote. Shouldn't I have received 8700 this update?

How it was explained to me by a CSR (and I feel the CSR was not correct, yet have no recourse)

The Politician only receives votes for those that have physically voted for them in the past.

so say I have bob, ann and jeff in my city

week 1

Bob votes for me - 100 xp

Ann votes for me - 100 xp

Jeff doesn't vote - 0 xp

Week 2

Bob votes for me - 100 xp

Ann doesn't vote - 100 xp

Jeff doesn't vote - 0 xp

week three

Bob votes for me - 100 xp and a big kiss

Ann votes for me - 100 xp

Jeff doesn't vote - 0 xp and he gets kicked out of the guild (just kidding)

So you see the reason that you are losing some xp for the citizens you have in your city is because they have NEVER voted for you in the first place.

Now, how it was originally explained to me was that all votes, if you are incumbant mayor with no-one running aginst you, should go to you, but that is now not the way SOE is awarding politician xp any more.

So send out those emails to your citizens and ask them, EACH WEEK, to go vote for you, in case SOE changes the rules again w/out telling us.

Good Luck as Mayor

How can that be? I mean, if you are the incumbant andno one runs against you, the citizens of your town can't vote for you!! So how can you gain XP on theprevious weeks?

So what you are saying is that "by design", if a Mayor does an excellent job, and manages to grow their city from an Outpost to a Metropolis, has done such a good job that no one would even dream of running against them.....that each week they would only ever get the maximum amount of experience equivalent to the very first election that installed them as Mayor?

OMG I thought that this profession was bad beforehand - but from experience I can see that what you are saying is true - and all I have to say is........

"What were the devs smoking/snorting/injecting/drinking when they designed the specs for Player Cities???"

3 CSRs have told me the exact same thing. However since this is not the way it works for the 1st mayor of a city I think one of the two processes is wrong.

The most recent comment from a CSR says:

Development has recently informed customer service that politicians are intended to only received experience for the votes cast for them each week. While you do receive the default votes from the citizens of the city you do not receive experience for these default votes. For you to recieve experience you must actually receive a vote from each citizen within each voting period.

Well how can you receive a default vote if no xp is granted? Isn't a vote is a vote is a vote?

So IF this is true, this will really be bad for getting XP. IF anyone has ever had an election you know how hard it is to get people in to vote.

In my particular case I don't believe this because I got 5200 XP. I know 52 people didn't come in and vote as we aren't having an election.

What is suspect is happening is the 1st mayor gets all of the votes by default and thus gets all of the XP. Since I won the election with 52 votes, those votes are sticking with me and I'm getting the XP for just those that voted for me. The remaining votes are lost.

I think I might get someone to run against me and see if that resets all of the votes back to me.

What a pain.

Yes, everythingto do with the Politician Profession can be summed up in one short phrase "what a pain".

I'll let you know how I go with the upcoming update. We have grown to 64 residents since the last update and am running unopposed...so theoretically, I should get 6400xp. I did get only 4800xp the last time even though we had 58 residents (after the 6 week rule kicked in) and need that full amount to take my city to Research.

Why does SOE punish Mayors so much in this game? If they don't want us, don't have the profession - or at least attach a warning label that reads "Playing the Politician Profession will adversely affect your game playing experience and will lead to increased levels of stress and anxiety"

Oh no, Kadir,

anyone, at any time, can go to the voting booth and vote for you. Every time I add a citizen to my city, I physically walk them to the city hall and explain to them the only way I get xp is by their vote. If you go to your voting terminal, you can cast your vote for yourself, over and over. So you SHOULD have all new citizens vote for you at least one time, that way their vote will carry over to you for the rest of the time you run unopposed as mayor

Feel free to contact me privately if I didn't explain something right
