Thread: factional city dilema

First off let me start off by saying that my guild is large (~180 members) but as large as we are we are also very diverse. Some like PvP and some like crafting. Different strokes for different folks. Well, we established a city on Talus. It eventually became a metropolis, with shuttle port, shopping etc. On the far east side of town we had rebel bases, and on the far west we had a generic PA hall we used as a mall. Now here is the catch - when we got attacked we would ban imperials so they could not clone in our city. Because of this they would not shop since they could not use our bank, shuttle, trainers, etc. By banning imperials every time we got attacked we effectively cut off half of our customers.

Our eventual solution was to run two cities - our original one on Talus as a research center commerce-based city where we let any faction roam around as long as they were not harassing people - and our military stronghold city on Dantooine where anyone blue got banned on sight. This worked to an extent, but made us as a guild feel like less of a family. It really fractured us.

With this in mind we had an opportunity to create a city on Naboo (which was our first choice back in November) and re-unify the guild into one city. We do not have bases yet, but we will sooner or later. We also have a new mall that is starting to pick up.

I guess my question is how do other guilds/cities handle this kind of thing? It would be REALLY easy if we could just /deny faction:imperial from using the cloning facility, but since that is not an option I am at a loss on how to best handle it. Any advice?

Frist off, Mixed guild and cities are just WRONG. Your Imp or Reb, the two dont live together in any world. As for banning another lame idea, All it does is what you said cut off your money to your vendors, We stopped banning, if they wanna clone and come back and die so be it.

How does banning them from a bank stop them from using a vendor? That stuff automatically deducts from wherever it can be found, it doesn't need to be on hand.

I think the best solution is to keep the base out of the way of your commerce area, and keep it well guarded. I only ban complete jackasses from my city. Imperials in general are quite welcome even though we've got a heavy Rebel slant.
