We are starting a city. Due to difficulty getting everyone together, is it possible to lay all your houses, declare residency, and then have the mayor set up city hall when they are ready to? Or do we all have to declare residency after the city hall is laid down? Thanks guys.

You may place your houses and declare residency and then place the City Hall. All previously declared residencies will automatically become citizens of that newly founded Outpost.

Unfortunately, that is not entirely correct, and I lost out once 400k thinking that IS the case. The TRUTH is that they MUST LOG IN, AND ENTER THEIR HOUSE to be added to the hall as a citizen. Yes, it speeds the process to have them declare ahead of time, since if they are moving from one town to yours there is a 24hr declaration period, but DO NOT think that you can simply plop your city hall deed down near your 10+ residents and automatically be set. Again, they MUST ENTER their house for them to be added to your citizenship. When you place your deed, it will even tell you so. Sadly, in my case, it doesn't tell you in ADVANCE (well, certain webpages do, but nothing in-game). Don't get burned like I did. Orchastrate your deed placement as best you can ensuring each and every person WILL be logging in, and enter their dwelling.

Ouch, sorry to hear this happened to you, and thank you for postinghere to help prevent it from happening to others.

That would be very, very disappointing...

No Prob Was one evil taste of reality and why I think I dislike the fact that everything *IS* available, but you have to really look around, be it here in forums, or offical website, or 3rd party sites to find all the info. I mean, I read there was a 24 hour ruling in which you had to get 10 citizens. I also read any houses with declared residency would automatically become citizens. After my loss, I then found, tucked away on another webpage the fact that they must log in. Now I am running into the same problem (poor documentation) as I advace my skill. My first weeks voting cycle I was going to add the 'register city' to get us "on the map", per se. Went and got trained in it, returned to the city only to find you have to be a level 3 city to Register it. That fact, as with any any EVERY other fact, should be clearly marked anywhere discussing what you get at a skill lvl, etc... Even the website posted above (really cool for the building matrix thing, BTW!!) lists only a few of them, and those are in the building matrix area, not on the skills tree listing. Just frustrating.. But, I certainly check every website, official or not, and every forum I come across now to research each and every skill lvl and object, so I don't get burned again. As a small outpost, XP is going to come slow. I've already 'wasted' one weeks XP on a skill I'll not be using for quite some long time, don't want to end up doing that again, lol..

They might have changed it or it's another bug, because that's how I started our city; they all declared then we placed the City Hall. But with all these everyday bugs I wouldn't take any chances either.

Best of luck to you.
