Thread: Player City Bridges

I'm not sure if this has been brought up yet (most likely it has, and i apologize for bringing it up again) but it would be really nice if there were bridges that we could build in player cities. They would be craftable by architects in 3 sizes and placeable and rotateable like gardens (but at hopefully a some-what lower cost as they are more necessity than luxury). I'm not sure if bridges across water would be easy to do, but in my city (on corellia) we have a problem ditches running through the city which are a real pain when you have 0 terrain negotiation (as i do). This is just an idea i had while running through our city this morning, feel free to make comments, i'd love to hear some other ideas on this.

Better yet, something that some of us have been asking for a long time now, how about the ability to manipulate the ground our city is on.

Say for example, one a hall is placed, that land goes all flat. let the mayor spend money to make hills, ponds and roads and for god sake give us the ability to make walls lol.

i agree that giving mayors the ability to flaten land would be helpful, but it could cause problems. this was just an alternative. being able to flaten land would allow for much more building rooms... but if they refuse that at least give us bridges or something. (maybe everyone gets +100 terrain negotiation in town )

at least they loosened building restrictions with player cities.

My city is pretty much a mess in most areas because we just cant get around the ditches on corellia. I'd love to see some sort of option to pay money to level an X amount of radious. I'd pay several million to flatten the area around the city hall. U can still have slopes and such (northern border leads down into a river) but there wouldnt the the thousands of little hills and ditches in the radius.


I too would like my city to look more like a town than just a bunch of homes sorta randomly thrown around a tall city hall building.

That would be nice..
I do not know how much I would pay to be able to do this, but it would be a lot.

Reshaping is hard because you are changing the actual 'hardcoded' mesh of the planet surface. Bridges ( which I'm pretty sure could cross rivers) really shouldn't be difficult to do. 3 sizes should be enough and you just have ramps on each end with one end generally being flush with the ground when placed and the ramp at the other to keep the bridge horizontal.

This happens in-game now with camps and when some mission buildings or special game features appear... whole mountain sides get chunks taken out of them to creat a large flat area.

Those are probably fixed sized platforms with the same texture as the ground. I guess you could make flattening platforms but I don't think they would really work. For example you might want to flatten to a slope and as the platform would be pre-determined you couldn't alter the angle.
