Thread: Mayoral bannings & voting

A significant number of people in my city are upset with the current mayor getting involved in the GCW. We want to vote him out and get a new mayor who is more neutral. We have a majority vote and a polition lined up.

The problem is, the current mayor doesn't want to leave... this wouldn't be a problem as we have a majority vote, but the mayor has found a way to cityban those that oppose him.

I must ask, how in the heck can I even vote, clone, or do anything else in the city I am a citizen in if I am banned.. furthermore, why is it even possible to do this?

I have submitted a CSR ticket, however the csr was nice enough to tell me that it was my own fault for making my political views known. I think its a completely bs answer mylself, and I'm wondering if there is anything else I can do to fix this problem?

Darn good question. /cityban shouldn't be used against a player for his political views any more than someone who posts on this forum should be one-starred because someone doesn't like the content of the message.

I disagree with the CSR's response, and I'd like to hear an official comment on what appears to be a game feature that allows power to corrupt absolutely.

You aren't supposed to be able to /cityban your own citizens I don't think (haven't tried it myself) nor can you prevent them from voting. However a much more critical plot is the mayor destroying the city hall before leaving office peacefully. So here's a heads up on that, might want to get a dialogue with a CSR just in case and have a new deed ready come election time.

From what I remember, /cityban only bans you from civic structures, not including the City Hall. They cannot hinder your ability to vote.

So technically you should still be able to go to town, enter the City Hall and vote his butt outta office.

That's how I remembered it working when they first put cities in.

and this has been done before so i would make sure to take preventative steps with a csr in advance

Howdy

Im totally confused now with your post......So there are 2 cities that have a City Hall? Easier if you just name the cities.... If I understand your first and second post...You were a resident of city A....then another group put up City B.....you decided to place houses to block them but when they expanded you now became a resident of City B...... Is this what happened???? If so, you are no longer a resident of City A, your city....

I guess Im asking is if there are 2 cities with a city hall....

I wanted to be a resident in city B because city B's sole existance was to attack city A. That way we can vote in a new mayor and claim the city as our own. We can then change the cloning center around and pass off the city to an allied guild.

I didn't give the entire story the first time, so here is the other half..

A city sprung up right on our border and got just enough citizens to make a cloning center. They then used the cloning center for the sole purpose of repeated raids on our city. Due to the fact that it was a city solely for attacks, some of the people who originaly started the city left and it dropped to a level 2. At that point, myself and numerous guildmates placed houses around thier border. They could either stay at a level 2 and lose thier cloning center, or go up to a level three and get tons of new citizens who aren't too appreciative of the current mayor.

The mayor had already banned most of my guild before we placed houses. I had declared residence in my new shack and got an email when thier city expanded saying I was now a citizen. I am still banned and I can not enter any civic structures, including the city hall. The mayor did blockade the city hall entrance with lightposts, but was very quickly repromanded by a CSR.

So now I am a citizen of the city, being taxed, unable to use any civic structures and unable to vote the mayor out of office. Shouldn't I be dumping some tea into a lake or something?
