how will this affect my city? I already have someone to take my place... but will deleting him screw anything up? or should I wait until the new mayor is in place?

well if you delete your mayor before the other guy gets voted in the city hall will vanish

100% sure dont do it until the new guy is voted in the city will be ruined

Upon deletion of a character, everything owned by the char is destroyed. As mayor of the city, you technically "own" the City Hall, because it is your automatic residence and you are the only one who can redeed it. Therefore...if you delete your char, poof. There goes the city, all decorations and civic buildings, and the other mayor will have to get a new city hall and start over at Rank 1.

So...be patient
