We've had a mayor that left the game and decided not to take care of making anybody a militia member or anything of the sort before she left. If we let the city hall decay, will it destroy the houses in the city, or can we let it decay and then plant anew, right where the old city hall was?

Yes you can, but if you are on a maxed planet you will most likely not make it to the same rank as you are now.

Second question: How long will it take to decay, and is there anyway we can speed up the process? And is there a way to figure out how long until it decays?
Thanks for all the help!

Usually 4 weeks from when it runs out of maint. It will depend on how much the maint is too. You have to watch the city adancement to monitor the % that is left on city hall. One thing to keep in mind, if the city drop rank as it decays other cities might pick that up on their city updates as they go up in rank.

Is there any particular reason why you aren't voting the inactive mayor out of office? That would save your city rank, and structures.
Of course, that assumes that you have enough active players to be able to vote them out of office. A quandry, at times.

Might want to start looking for a new spot to put a city hall. If you were to place it in the same spot all those inactive houses will still be in your city and not count as citizens thus wasting space for active citizens.

Thanks for all the help. One last question =). The houses that are in the city won't poof when the city hall does, will they?

No, anything placed by a player like houses or the cantina will not be destroyed.

Why not vote for a new mayor? Have someone with Politician run and have the citizens vote for the new mayor. In a week that person should win and be the new city mayor, thus getting control and ownership.

Also, keep in mind that after publish 10, they are going to start deleting unpaid accounts that have been inactive for 6 months, and then again each month after that... don't know if you feel like waiting.
