Thread: Am I wrong for...?

Am I wrong for causing the destruction of certain buildings here in the city. You be the judge, and tell me if I am wrong and/or if this idea will even work.

Now, lets say that I have a certain character in my guild who volunteered to own and run the Cities Cantina and Med Facility. Nothing was wrong with this in the begining except for the fact that he 1) never decorated like he said he would even though we all provided the money to do so and (2) refuses to give back the deed or ownership of the facilities when asked to destroy them.

See, as our city grows, we move the cantina around however, since he has taken over the cantina, he refuses to let it go, nor will he cooperate at all.

He basically has our entire city by the balls. I took it upon myself to "evict" this citizen by using somewhat .... "iffy" tactics.

The solution: I placed Street lamps to block both entries to the buildings. As he has no items in the buildigs he will not be loosing anything. Next, I will remove all other civic structures, including decorations, leaving only these two buildings.

(The final step I am not sure will work, and this is where I need your help) The final step, I plan to lower the Cash funds of the city, making it so low that the city begins to use all the maitnance in the Cantina/Med Center. The streetlamps prevent him from putting more credits inside and the rest is history. After his structures are lost, he will be banned.

Can anyone help me and tell me if this will work, and tell me if there are any problems with this (statistically- meaning will I lose my city, I dont care much for moral opinions on this.) If there are any negatives outcomes like losing the city, let me know, if not, what should I lower the City funds too.

I need your help.

-Signed,

A Politician in Need.

The treasurey doesn't pay for the cantina the cantina pays for the cantina. Only way you could get it to destroy sooner is to up property tax to maximum and repay everyone but him.

On a personal note, what you are doing is deplorable and griefing. CSR's can and likely will force you to remove the lamps to let him into his structure and pay maintenance.

I agree that I what I am doing is wrong. What I dont understand is after so many cases like this, why they wouldnt just add a function to where the politician can revoke a citizens rights to live in a city. :-/

Oh well, now here is my question, I had a Politician buddy where his cities shuttleport was destroyed because they didnt have enough money. I assumed this was because the cities funds were too high for the cities Money supply.

Oh well, Im damned if I do, an damned if I dont. The guy never comes by the city anymore and will not find out untill he gets the email's for maintance being too low. Hopefully, by then, it will be too late for him to repair.

The shuttleport is a civic structure paid for by the treasurey, the cantina is a player house paid for by the maintenance. It's only a restricted structure for cities but that is about it as far as cantinas being tied to the city goes.

I really don't know what to tell you to do since I've always been able to get guys to move...eventually. Try building up around the cantina the way you were planning to anyway in prep for it to move so the guy will get the message. Beyond that just constantly bring up the pressure on him to move somehow. Have friends bug him about it, send him a daily mail, offer to bribe him, get a second player to drop another cantina and drop a statue by his advertising the second cantina that sort of thing.

because if a mayor can revoke people's citizenship, then mayors who don't want to be voted out can simply revoke those who vote against them.

don't resort to shady tactics... if your citizens are as concerned as you are, have them email the guy too. also have them submit CSR tickets, see if it works.

Couldn't you just get another muscian/dancer to place another cantina and just let this person keep it?

Sugar entices, vinegar spices.

If the person is unwilling to decorate the cantina (or doesn't have the time) why not hire an interior decorator to do it for him? He just needs to give admin to the decorator in the cantina, and that person can just go to work. He doesn't lose anything, and you've got a nicely decorated cantina to boot.

If you guys are moving the cantina around a lot (or plan to) I can certainly understand why he doesn't want to decorate it, not until it's in its FINAL spot, anyway. I know I'd be loathe to decorate a cantina too much if we're gonna move it again next week.

You have many solutions to this problem, there's no reason to try using mayoral-force tactics

Good luck!

Just FYI, we have a very long talk and finally got him to return the cantina to us. He admitted to planning on leavingit there to halt city production, as a result to his own actions, he decided to leave the guid. He generously offered by the Med center and Cantina to my vedor.

Thank you all for your time.
