last week in politics

I've officially retired as the mayor of New Unity, Test Center. as most of you already know, I was planning on resigning from both correspondent and mayorship soon, but I wanted to make sure everything was alright before I left. I registered for the race, and logged in today after a week of slaving at my vendor on Ahazi to find this email in my inbox along with a LOT of "city growth: added citizens/structure" and "lost citizen!" emails. the email is from the ex-mayor of NU's self-proclaimed "sister city" that recruited citizens out of NU then tried to retire shortly afterwards. (am I bitter? most likely.) my response that's forwarded to all my citizens is included.

hon, if you bothered to ask before hand, I was going to retire soon anyway. I wasn't going to just leave the city without a mayor, and was going to inform everyone of this decision after folks have resettled in after the mothballing.

I know I've done all I can for the city, and it's time for me to move on. I will admit you're not my first choice, and I remember what happened with Emerald City. maybe you'll change, maybe you won't. it's none of my concern any more.

fyi, as medical center is now outdated with the CU, so is pretty much every other specialization including research. a lot of the taxes don't work. if you're going to continue artificially inflate the citizen count just so you can take it over sooner, that's your choice. I won't play dirty and pull up the city hall, and I'll be sure to stay out of the way since apparently I've been letting the city "rot away" the past year.

don't call me love, that word actually holds a meaning to me.

I will miss the city and my citizens, but with all the changes TC has been thru and all my friends that have left the game, the city I left is no longer the city I joined. many thanks to Vandessa, our ex-mayor and ex-tailor-TC-corr, for trusting me with the city and helping me out in many ways. I love my militia, as they've done SO much to help me and the city. it's a shame that New Unity is now suffering the fate of many live cities, but I know I've done my part to help it grow.

I'm going to hold onto an exotic leotard a friend gave me that Amo (Plinka, our first correspondent) made, and move to the houses I placed (on TC) at the location were my very first house was on Ahazi. this is by no means a goodbye post to you guys, as you all deserve your own post I'll post one up when I turn in my official resignation in to Tiggs (soon), so I'll still be the correspondent for a short while; However, I don't see the point of having a "this week in politics" thread any more (and thanks to Bajeezus for this tradition and all of you who posts here, it'd really helped me get in tuned with what other mayors experience.)

cities come and go, and mayors come and go. how was your city this week?

Fort Valhala was pretty quiet. One of the guilds merged with another one, so the ppossibility of that guild gaining about 20 more citizens into the city means that Fort Valhala becomes a Metro. Its exciting to see how fast this city has grown.

Just so you know....there are people who appreciate the things you've done, Pappi. It's hard to loose a city you love (and deal with the resulting drama) but don't let it take away the other things you enjoy in the game.

Wow, sorry to hear about the way things turned out with the town, Pappi.

I'll save the sappy thanks and "goodbye" (though hopefully nota complete goodbye) for the other thread.

Not a whole lot new around Constellation. Although we do still get a steady influx of 2-4 new citizens each week it seems. And fewer and fewer "Lost Citizens" emails. Seems the whole house pulling from people's bank accounts thing really is having a significant impact on houses not decaying, and citizens remaining.

Oh, and the cantina is getting some cool new decorations from all the new quests and items introduced by the expansion.

TC issues aside, it was an OK week for Subsolaris Chasma. Kept the momentum level and added a few houses and a cloner (yay! a new way to get stuck on the bottom of lok!).

Next hardship will be getting people to think about using it more regularly, tracking down those who long ago mentioned they'd want to place structures, and finding citizens /without/ stealing from other active cities around TC.

All citizens and neighbors seem happy (well, if you don't count that clan of gurks that live nearby whose King mysteriously keeps dissapearing).

And as to the other cities, let me just say that Politics suck. Sometimes in a game more then in real life. In the immortal words of Rodney King: "Why can't we all just get along?"

technically I haven't lost, but I'm not going to fight with someone over a dead city when they're actually bringing in people to bring up his vote count while he's behind. I care for my city and some of the citizens that's still left, but this isn't worth fighting over.

I'm not going to quit the game or anything... I have a business I started since the beginning of the game, and a few characters scattered across other galaxies. I highly doubt I'll go into politics again, as the reason why I started was to help a friend manage a city (also full of my friends) she can no longer be a mayor of. with all of that gone, there's no driving force for me any more

Veterean's Retreat was pretty quiet. We lost a citizen and gained two.

This does not bother me at all (because everyone pays the $1 mil move-in fee) as long as we keep moving up. We are at either 65 or 66 citizens as of now with a treasury over $50 million.

Pappi,

You are so pathetic I don't have words for it. You've told so many lies to so many different people you can't even keep them straight anymore. I don't understand what happened to the sweet caring girl that we all fell in love with on TC, but we would like her back. This imposter posting here needs to go away.

PS. The city isn't dead as much as you tired to kill it with neglect.
