I was wondering if the sales tax work's or not.. Or is it still just wasted money. In my city I had a sales tax of 5% and a good friend of mine said it was useless & broken. I was just wondering if they ever fixed it.

Yep. It's still broken. I don't think they know how to fix it.

i noticed on my terminal is says something like [%sales_tax-] or one of those broken titles around post-CU =( I dont think the sales tax really helps, it makes the buyer pay more than they expected, and if you are selling an item to the vendor, the buyer (vendor owner) has to pay that tax to the seller

Actually, since they added the galaxy-wide vendor search the sales tax doesn't even add the tax onto the Merchant's listings, at least in the test I did on it. So now not only does the money not reach the city treasury, the system doesn't even recognize that it exists to add it to the Merchant's item listing.

really? I tested it during CU beta on the test server, and the money went to the merchant.

as for sales tax, I'm afraid I got some (unofficial) bad news... doesn't look like anyone's in charged of anything closed to it, so the chance of getting it fixed soon seems minimal

hmmm I tried it right after the GWVS, so maybe they changed something when they upgraded the Merchant interface that made it start adding the tax back in to the actual listing. I'll give it another try and update the bug thread.

Maybe the Devs dont understand how this is effecting the cities.

Yeah you can ask people to donate....

Yeah you can pay for the city yourself as being mayor....

Yeah you can raise the other taxes....

But how is this fair in a system that was set to WORK RIGHT, and its not......

All i see on threads in this politician forum is people saying ask people to donate. Ask people if its ok to raise taxes. Pay for it yourself, and im sorry, but thats BULL DONK.

I want the system that is supposed to work. I want the system that i dont have to hear people telling me or other mayors what they should do to get around it. Fix the current system.......at least the dam taxes and you make at least 90% of the politician community happy.

Point blank...DEVS need to get it done.

I'm about to schedule another fund raiser for our city too. I just doubled the property taxes but in relation to the over all budget, that's a drop in the bucket. If no fix can be found or it's too difficult to fix for a quick hit, then there should be a temporary reduction or suspension of city expenses until it's resolved.
