I have wondered this for a while, regarding other cities... so I will pose these questions to the polititions, as we are the ones who most often will represent our cities to others...
1 -What is the theme of your city? (crafting/social/faction.. etc)
2 -How is it represented?
3 -What is your specific role in presenting the theme of your city?
4 -What do you do/can you do to maintain the focus of your city?
5 -How well is this working out?
6 -What can Polititions do to help keep Cities unique, and help them grow?
I'll go first...
1 - We area social city, guild opporated/maintained.(we do welcome citizens from outside the guild but those are few)
2 - The enitre guild acts as represenatation for your city.
3 - I am meerly a facilitator, we built the city as a guild and it is maintained that way. I will however extend myself at times, but not push my own will... It's not mine to do with as I please.
4 - Communication, (it's the polititions one true "power")make sure everyone knows what is going on with citizenship, the treasuriy and so on. Keep in touch with guild members/citizens.
5 - Works fairly well, it does take a lot of time and patience, but slow, sustained growth is not an instant thing. Often there isn't much we can "do". Therefore, planning becomes a big factor.
6 - A unique city in my opinion, can be presented in 3 key ways...
Fisrt. A clearly defined "theme" (everyone server knows that city is a Rebel city or a crafting center)
Second. Get the word out, Ask citizens to help get the word out. Forums, keep the city visible to the forum community (something I don't do very well). Tell people about the city and invite them to come visit.
Lastly. There has to be activity in the city, there can be events, bases to defend or again, some very well stocked vendors. People need a reason to visit, if they are impressed, perhaps they will stay. But do not force it down peoples throats.

1 - Our city is a Stronghold for the Rebellion
2 - 16 active Rebel bases
3 - I used to buy the bases, now i defend them
4 - We hold player events, open up to other rebel guilds, support the rebellion
5 - We have made may friends and many enemies, but our city is thriving
6 - I believe the location of a city is key to its success. If you have a crummy location that looks like the rest of the planet you wont have as much interest. Finding a spot where the scene is unique will create an identity for you city. Also placing houses in street formation will allow for a nicer look =)

1. Jedi Playground/Faction & GCW
2. City is Guild Owned, Mayor, Guild Leader and Council solicit and represent the city in most cases
3. As the Mayor, I am responsible for the Merchant district, the City events we host and and other PR type responsibilty.
4. Communication of any activites that are going on, not just in city, but planet, and server. City Chat would be great to have still.
5. Works well due to Gmail, but City chat would be better.
6. Keep fun and entertaining events going, make sure your merchants and crafters have fully stocked venders, that brings in traffic. Be a part of a Planet council to organize events with other citys or at least with other faction aligned cities ![]()
