you actually need only 9 buildings within 150 meters of the city hall owned by 9 seperate characters... each of the characters must "declare residence" in that structure for it to count... the 10th person is yourself and the city hall counts as your residence...

i'd recommend you read my new tutorial if you're asking yourself questions like this... its is located at:

So theoretically if you found a group of houses and people have residency in them, you could just pop down a CH and control the area? The citizens don't have to 'agree' to join your town or anything? Just wondering, this aspect seems kind of funny =)

I've read past few pages of the forum, couldn't find anything that answered my question so sorry if i'm repeating anything already answered awhile back =(

Anyway, I'm trying to start a city on Dantooine, and I know I need 10 people in the city within 24hours. What exactly counts as that 10?

-10 people being residents of the 150m radius area?

-10 people being residents of the 150m radius area (even if theyve been there before the CH)?

-10 people voting for mayor in city hall?

The spot we're landing our city there's a house there and we don't know the owner and he's within radius, if he has residency declared there, would he 'count' as a number?

Thanks in advance!

10 houses laid down within the 150m radius by 10 different people who have all declared residency in those houses.

yep... but thats assuming:

1) they bothered to "register" at their residence
2) they don't immediately vote you out of office and get a free city hall in the deal

its been known to happen though

Heh, well i don't plan on placing it by random houses =) Just wondering how the system works if my residents needed to 'declare' to the city hall or vote or anything other than have residency declared, thank you for all the help everyone =)

Umm...to my knowledge the City Hall doesn't count as the Mayor residence, the Mayor must also own a house within the city limits, and it's not possible to redeed a city hall so whilst the winning mayor would gain a City Hall, they cannot pull it up and reuse it elsewhere. Also, you should not that if at any stage the population drops below 10 residents, the city hall (and by its nature, the "city" itself) gets detroyed at the next weekly city update.

mayor's residence is the city hall...

1) confirmed by politician faq (one of them i read it the other day when i was researching my guide...)

2) confirmed by our initial placement back on november 13th being only 9 other people...

3) confirmed by the fact i have 10 lots free and am a registered citizen... =)... just fyi...

i would bet that when a new mayor is voted in their residency is switched to city hall... however I do not know this for a fact... neither do i know what happens if you change your residency to another structure... since it sounds like you have a house in town I imagine nothing happens when you switch to an in town residence... brings up an interesting question... i wonder if anything happens if you switch your residency to another city while still a mayor... =P

placed my city hall... citizens (according to the city management terminal) only count once they enter their residence atleast once =( let's hope everyone logs on by tomorrow nite =) is this correct or does the terminal only read that way, when in actuality it's 10 whether they log on or not?

Im part of a guild on Bloodfin, we are trying to start a city. But Im going to wait and make sure we have atleast 12 or so people with a house and declared residence, then I'll place the city hall. Im just wondering, just how much maintainence is a basic city? 100k or more a week Ive heard is that true?

Yes, it is new. We just started a Twi'lek colony/Lok on Sunrunner. We lost our first City Hall because of that new change. There was no documention on the change, and we were unable to get everyone online and back to their homes in time once wefigured out what was going on, nor find enough new residents in time.... as we are an all twi'lek city. We had assumed it was still everyone with a declared residence.

But yes, the City Hall no longer auto-registers every declared house. It will automatically register all of the structures in its vacinity, but every resident must now return to their declared houses at least one time in order for the city hall to register them as a citizen.
