Thread: Trouble Starting a City... Is it the Ruins?

Hello all.

I found a *really* cool spot to start a new town near the Squill Caves on Tatooine. There is a little flat land, but the task would still be a challange to make a good city work. I am up to that challange!

The other thing that caught my eye about the area is a set of ruins to the SW of the caves, slapped onto the side of the mountain. They do not appear to be part of any POI or any other type of structure; they are just there. They also appear to have a (rough) 250m radius build restriction around these ruins; which really sucks.

So, I have three questions related to the Squill Cave and these ruins.

1) Is there a radius around ruins which do not allow structures to be built near them?
2) If a town's radius contains a set of ruins (assuming #1 is "yes"), will the ruin's radius overrule the town's? That is, will we loose the build space around the ruins?
3) Are there any restrictions around the Squill Cave that would not allow us to encircle the cave within a city radius?

Thank you for any help! We found such a cool place, we hope it will work out!

More than likely what you've found is a jedi temple put in during the last publish. I have ruins/a temple type thing in my city and we can build as close as 10m from it.

Yes, teh ruins', or any static items/display for that matter, radius will always overrule a player build zone and you will lose this building space.

Yes, I believe caves and such like that have no-build radii as well. Your best bet is take a small house and just walk around the proposed area and see what is buildable and not. This could take a while, but it would help you know where you can and cannot be built.

Also, bear in mind, many people may not appreciate having a city right by the squill cave, or, as it sounds like you're planning, right on top of it.

Did those ruins appear after the city was built, or where they there when you built the town?

We were hoping to build the town near the cave, which would have made it a good walk if someone used a shuttle port into the town. I don't want to build right on top of it, that would be... weird.

It is looking like we will not be building now.

The ruins were there since the game started, its one of the reasons we chose the spot and gave our town the name it has.

May I ask where your city is?
