A modification on a proposal for a new voting system.
-A mayor's term lasts 7 days.
NOMINATON PERIOD
-You have 3 days to run for office against the incumbent.
-If no one enters the race before the end of nominations, the incumbent will be secure for the week in a 'Grace Period.'
-If someone enters the race within 3 days, we enter the 'Campaign Period.'
GRACE PERIOD
-No one has ran in opposition. All votes and xp will default to the incumbent on the 7th day.
CAMPAIGN PERIOD
-You have a minimum of 4 days to campaign for election. Technically, you can actually begin preparing for campaign during the previous week's Grace Period if you're serious about politics. This means anywhere from 4 to 11 days to campaign.
-At the end of the Campaign Period, whoever has the most votes wins. There will be no default (AFK) votes cast.
-In turn, this will allow citizens a minimum of 4 days to decide a vote.
Does it work? Any problems with this system we still need to iron out?

Well the problem I still see, is if the mayor isn't active in these 4 days ... he's on vactation or what not, and the citizens will probably not look onto the voting terminal every day or week because they won't really care to ... they're not the politicians ..
So it still stands, that a competitor could win the vote with only 1 vote ... his own ... get into power and grief the whole city - the majority simply didn't get a chance to decide ...
Of course you could try and give all citizens a notice by automaticly sending a mail to them. question is if citizens read mails spammed by the city hall (I have the fealing even active citizens don't read my city wide mails because of he weekly "Election won" mail with my name as sender)
I still like lowering the cap to beat down to 33% better, because it really needs a big part of the citizens to agree with the competitor ... and it's probably much easier to code than a totaly new system devided into nomination ond campagn period with the option of a grace period etc.
