Thread: City Naming Rules?

I've combed through the FAQ and guides and such, and I haven't found exactly what the rules are for naming cities. I know that in some ways they're fairly loose, as the example of ACTION GAMERS CITY on Ahazi's Naboo show...

So what are the rules? I'm thinking that the word "The" can't be used, but I am not certain.

yeah, naming rules are pretty loose on the cities. I have seen some that got renamed after being "captured" and I couldnt post the names here for fear of mod intervention. Needless to say, the CSRs are very quick to step in and rename the city when this happens, and they have been known to ban for a badly named city as well....although I doubt naming a city poorly would result in that harsh of an action...(see Pimp City noted above).

"the" is a no-no, that I found out after trying to create "the sandbox" and ended up with "sandbox" O.o

We've got Sin City and Sin City Too on Tempest and neither have caught any attention. Come to think of it we also have a city called Space Balls Teh City. So i'm pretty sure they aren't as strict as using the player name filter (like PA's) but they are strict enough to catch anything with swearing (or the apparantly) in.

We noticed that 98% of the playerbase was going with one core choice,
so we have eliminated "paper" and "scissors" and are now offering a new,
exciting choice based on the iconic "Rock."

While I've never tested the full range of city naming rules, I belive it uses the same (or similar) filters that vendors and characters use.

We've got a "Pimp City" on Corellia, Naritus so the filter obviously doesn't look for good taste.

I didn't think we were allowed to use "city" in the name either.

the smuggler corr made "sin city" on TC-ep3, and I don't remember yelling at him for misspelling so "city" probably works. a lot of other words don't though

"New" is allowed as well.

My city on Lok is named New Kabala. (and no it isn't named after some crazy Madonna religion thing either like everyone seems to think).

On Eclipse, we have Neverland Ranch.

I'm not sure which is worse, that or Mordor (on Lok--nowhere near the volcano).
