Thread: If it wasn't hard enough getting xp before...
Well currently all cities on Valcyn are ghost towns. People just are not playing until CU bugs get fixed.
Sad to say but that is reality.
People (especially Jedi) just will not play and ruin their characters while everything is messed up
I hope once things settle things will liven up
It just depends on the group I guess. I agree that cities and guilds with a high percentage of Jedi are the hardest hit because there are some severe imbalances going on with Jedi leveling.
The GCW should heat up again though with the changes that are on TCEp3 it balances out the bases and should allow for factional confrontation to take place again.
Fort Valhala on Tarquinas is thriving since the CU. The server has actually grown in population as old timers come back, and people play. I for one like the CU. As for the City, getting people to vote is always a problem. We almost had a hostile takeover of the city. The main key is to get alot of votes, cause that is the fastest way to get the xp. I know how hard it will be for you though, as you described, people are lazy.
Only thing I found that seems to work is ever week, after the city update, I send out a citizen news bulletin on whats new in the city, how the treasurey is doing, and stuff like that. I always (ALWAYS) thank the citizens for the support and help in making the city grow, and politely ask for them to vote. Usualy I get about 10 votes each election. This current election I got 21 (Due to the hostile takeover attempt) and another time I got 30 ( A whole guild joined the city)
Its not impossible, but it will take time. Now that Politician takes no SP, its a good idea to never drop it.
Hope this helps.
I'm in the same boat fourtuneseeker. Our mayor cancelled and I'm taking over as Novice Politician. We have a good group left and I think I can expect at least 15-20 votes per week.
It still seems like it's going to take a long time until I can be at the level needed to maintain our current civic structures... ![]()
Your rate of xp gain is honestly tied to how active your citizenry is. I've seen Rank 2 city Politicians getting 20+ votes each election cycle and Rank 5 city Politicians getting less than 10. The best advice I can give is to really do some serious communication with your citizens. Be honest and truthful and make sure they realize that their votes are the only way you get xp...and that if they want anything done you need to level as quickly as you can.
It's easy to forget to run into City Hall and cast the vote. People get busy and usually remember just as they're logging off and the screen closes out. One thing that has worked for me is sending out a weekly status report listing our current citizenry, the treasury amount, weekly maintenance, and the voting total. It usually only takes the first week of 7 or so votes to motivate the rest of them to stop by and vote. It also helps with donations to the treasury, since people will notice if things are getting a little low and stop by.
It was easier to get xp before the voting cycle changes, true, but it was also impossible to change mayors. The three week cycle gives everyone the opportunity to get over to City Hall and vote and not having absentee votes go to the incumbent allows others to run and win elections. It may take longer to get xp now, but it's not difficult if you have an active city and an active mayor. Communication is the real key, at least in my experience.
I know that many cities are facing caps and dead houses and things like that, and I wish we could see some changes to help alleviate that. While it's something we've been doing for a long time--and I know many are tired of doing--the only thing we can really do right now is make the best of it, hang in there, and find creative solutions to the problem.
One of the consequences of the CU was the death of my city. It was rather unexpected, as although we only had 12 citizens and most were inactive, most of the inactives were alts of active players. With the CU, 4 of my citizens left the game, and I decided to give up and move back to my old guild city. The old city is pretty dead now too. We have about 5 people from the guild log on each day. (Our guild has 87 members, and had about 40 active ones pre-CU.)
So yes, this has shrunk guilds and cities a great deal. The only thing I'm hoping for is that those that stay together will grow stronger as more teamwork is needed post-CU. And this is beginning to happen already.
