Thanks for the help Pappi.. got it all worked out with the csryou had contact me....

I was running for mayor in my city (riverview) on dantooine, on the Bria server... I was the only person running, that I know of.. It didn't have any one else registered.. and I had 10 votes... the incumbent mayor didn't register to run.. and he said he wasn't going to in a few of the threatning letters I got... telling me if I run he is taking militia away from me and my guild mates.. the incumbent mayor is head of another guild.. any ways he really didn't like any one challenging him... told us we had 24 hours or he was going to destroy city hall and build a new one... so on and so forth... he had some bad luck in his life and decided it was a good excuse to be a jerk.. Healso lost 30 + people from his guild over it.. any ways riverviewwas my guilds city, we built it.. we ran it till our mayor left and invited this guy to run it.. it was fine till he became a jerk.. but any ways with all that... I ran for mayor.... to get rid of this guy.. a few weeks go by.. a few letters from him.. and I was still the only one running for mayor.. today I checked my votes and I had 10.. and from what pappi said, if no one runs and I have a few votes I would win... I went off line.. came back on line a few hours later... and the incumbent mayor won.. I didn't have any letter saying he interred the race.. not a thing just he won... and I got 6000 exp for running so I know they counted my votes.. I just don't see how this guy won.... any ideas or is it a new bug...

Well, first thing I can think of is that the Incumbent mayor always runs, even if they don't put their name forward.

And anyone who's a citizen but doesn't vote is assumed to be voting for the mayor.

So - if there are 21 registered citizens and you get 10 votes, the mayor wins. Actually, the mayor wins in the case of a tie too.

Personally, I'd let him destroy city hall and then place a new one about 13 seconds later where the old one was. Solves all your problems at once.

that is incorrect. that was how it worked before they rewrote the voting code.

something similar happened to me though.

my city pretty much died.

a lot of guilds completly quit the game.

so structures fell apart, city level dropped below shuttle.

now the city has one way shuttle, very few buildings and inactive mayor.

so when the 0 skill point changes have been made, i decided to take over.

registered to run, only myself runnin.

got 3 votes from me my alt and a mate.

after election times i got an email saying the incumbent mayor, then my name, was victorous.

first of all i wasnt the incumbent mayor, nor did i actually win. the old mayer stayed mayor.

i contacted customer support about this.

thes told me i didnt win, since i got two votes and the incumbent mayor got two votes.

on a draw the incumbent one wins.

so i thought it might just be a bug that i didnt get notified for the current mayor registering to run and getting his votes.

i tried again the next week, and won with one vote.

as i see now, there seems to be a bug on the election.

seems like this:

if there is only one player runnin, he is considered incumbent mayor.

any vote that is casted now counts twice, once for the new guy and once for the incumbent instance.

when the election is over the system realises there is a draw between incumbent and newly registered player.

a quick fix might be toalways listing the incumbent mayor on the voting terminal.

About the CSR response i got, i think we all know that CSR no s*** about the game, so dont givea dime on what they say.

or they are just to lazy to investigate the matter.

send a ticket to the CSRs and explain what you just did here. Also, explain that the former mayor has threatened to destroy the city by pulling up the City Hall. Explain how you got the XP as well. They should be able to get this fixed quickly and put the "jerk" out on the street.

that's why I asked him to post this on the forums (instead of PM), so I can forward the concern to the CSRs that read the forum (and they kick some serious ass )

I know Pappi corrected this in a later post and you've been out if it for a while but I just have to chime in on this...

Going to Celebration III: $400.00

PC that you took to 'mess around on' while there: $2000.00

Getting back and not being able to load SWG for a week and a half: *edit*

Finally getting back ingame and seeing that the election is in week 3 and you hadn't registered: Priceless

I almost cried. Sad to say but my 1 year anniversary will be spent on the Militia while a friend has a 3 week go at mayorialship. At least it wasn't a coup or someone I don't know... Still, 3 weeks without the office is going to seem like forever.

I hear ya Lucious. It just feels odd to not be "the guy" around town.

On a side note, after almost 2 years of off and on again work, I am now Master Smuggler!
