Thread: When are the weekly player city updates?
The updates occur 168 hours after the previous update, but time doesn't elapse while the servers are down. For example, if the servers are down for a total of 8 hours in one week the update is 7 days and 8 hours real time after the previous update.
Note: You can check in the city hall to get a countdown till the next update.
That's not really true. All the cities that started on Thursday are now updating on Friday. My city was started on a Tuesday night and updated last night (Wednesday).

Yep, that about sums it up. The CSR's are clueless about most game play issues.

They do. The answer just isn't a clear cut one.
Each player city has a weekly evaluation 168 hours after the time it was placed. This time shifts slightly versus real time because the server down time stops the clock. So if someone were to place a city at 12noon on a Wednesday, the city might not update until 7pm the next Wednesday, and the week after that at 1am Thursday, and so on.
Since every city is placed at a different time and day, and there is that time drift in effect, no one but the mayor of that city has any real idea of when it is going to have its next evaluation.
It sounds like the CSR is indicating that there is still a place reserved on the map for those cities that have been removed, and that those slots will be freed up when that city's weekly timer expires and it realizes there is no longer a city hall with ten structures there.
So you are not going to know when that happens without tracking down the old mayor of one of the expired towns and prying his best guess out of him. Sorry.

Yes, the CSR's don't know what they are talking about, although people do commonly refer to it as update day, it is just they all happen to update at the same time.
Thank you for the clarification on hours, yes there is drift due to server downtime that extends the 1 week timeframe. Fridays are now commonly referred to as update day and in a few weeks it will be saturdays.
Although, there are some cities out there that were not placed in the first 15 minutes of the landrush and others that have destroyed and rebuilt in new locations and they are not in-sync with most of the other cities.
Thats not really what I meant
Im trying to place a city hall on my planet, even though there are 8 city halls in total (yes that is verified and correct information, please dont start) it won't let me place it because there are already 10 PC's.
This has been happening for 4 days now, I contacted the CSR's and they told me to wait for the weekly player city update, but either I have no clue what theyre on about or they have no clue what im on about...
:/
there is no weekly global city update every week.
City's update every week as stated above. Don't confuse the fact that all cities seem to update on thursdays with thursday being the update day.
It is just a result of all the city halls being placed on a thursday. A city hall placed on a Tuesday, will update on Tuesdays.
