Tax systems in RL:

Progressive tax rate based on income =tax the rich cause they can afford to pay more

Flat tax based on income = tax everybody same percentage cause that's more "fair"

Property tax based on possessions = tax people with nicer stuff more

Sales tax based on purchase value = tax people who buy more expensive stuff more cause they can afford it

Tax systems in SWG:

Property tax based on possessions = tax people with nicer stuff more

"Income Tax" based on flat dollar amount = slam it to the poor guy so the inactive's houses blow up faster!

Sales tax based on purchase value = remove money from the game and make it go poof and design the interface to make it look like the city is gaining revenue when in reality it sometimes is and sometimes isn't

Garage tax based on vehicle repair price = tax people who are stupid enough to pay extra for repairing their cars outside of a major city

Shuttle tax based on flat dollar amount = tax people who are stupid enough to pay extra for a one-way ticket they should have gotten round-trip before they arrived

Did I get that right? Property tax seems to be the only decent tax around. How about other, simpler sources of revenue:

Garage repair = all fees for vehicle repair go to city treasury in full

Training = all trainer's fees go to city treasury in full

Travel = all shuttle fees for tickets purchased at the player city go to city treasury in full

Keep in mind that the city pays maintenance fees for all garage structures, trainers, and shuttles. Shouldn't it get all the revenue from these structures?

I'm not entirely sure what the point of your post is, but the poor people in RL are not analogous to poor people in-game. You don't have to have any money in-game to play. The same is not true in RL.

well, actually my post started as an attempt to point out someof the absurdities of the tax system in-game, but then I got the idea about the civic institutions passing their money to the city instead of to the air. Guess I changed my point mid-post.
