Thread: City Overhead Map: Let us see it all at once
When you are in an NPC city, you can see the entire city by hitting Ctrl+M (well, as much as your screen borders will allow zoomed out). But with Player cities, I notice that I only see "visible" structures on the overhead map... the structures that slowly pop into view a certain radius around me. The map can be such a great search and navigation feature in cities, but it's crippled for player cities in it's current state.
I'd like to request that we be able to see all structures in the city boudaries when using the overhead map, just like NPC cities.
well.. the NPC is stactic (pre-program) I think that would be harder to do... what about this...
The city terminal.... have a new option. Overhead view.
This will give you the overhead view of the city PLUS hue color for the city borders... now that would be something ![]()
And possible next level color hue to show how much would you gain. This will help city planner a lot to place new structure and organize.
Actually NPC cities "fade in" too. It's just a greater distance. However, you may notice civic structures (Including player owned like cantina) come in at a much higher range than houses.
If you really want to get a good overall view of your city, the best option is to make a map, so you really can see it all at once.
My issue isn't with me seeing the city... I have an nice MS Excel automated graph program I use for layout.

My issue is with visitors not seeing the layout when they come. I know when I used to visit an NPC city I was unfamiliar with, I could see the whole layout at once and geta sense of where I needed to go for different needs. The existing map leaves the visitor guessing where in this 900m diameter to go for services and supplies.
