Thread: Please change specializations at Master Politician

Originally I thought master politician was granted the right to have 2 specializations instead of one. Now we get Industrial or Scientific Society. Personally, I don't think either of them is worth the money. But the ability to have two would be worth it.


I would like to see it that the master politician is allowed to choose which 2 a city gets. Here are my reasons:


1. It will allow for more unique cities. If there are only 2 master options most cities will probably wind up with one of them, and there won't be selling points from city to city.


2. I think the 2 specializations they gave at master are terrible. I personally don't see the value to the entertainment or medical district. So you heal 10% faster? Maybe buffs are 10% stronger but that isn't huge. With most good crafters using factories I also don't see much value to Manufacturing Center. So 3 of the 4 abilities at master aren't that great, in my opinion.


If given my choice I would pick Research Center and Improved Job market. To me those are the two best specializations and would mean the most to my city. With the way things are, I could really care less about getting master politician now.

bottom line is you don't need to do that specialization... You're the mayor, do what you want in your city.


Frankly I don't see the point of any of the double specs... they really are poorly chosen, so I'll have to agree with you there.

I don't plan on doing them. But without them then what is the benefit of being a Master Politician? I think the 2 specialization thing is a good idea. Or maybe a 10% reduction in maintenance on city structures.

There really needs to be something done with the master box. I'd like to see city specilizations have a 20% reduction in price at the master level. Having 2 different specilizations would be nice also, but they need to give us some better city specilizations to make it very tempting. Something that affected citizens only would be nice, like +10% experiance for citizens or -10% faction cost. They are paying for it, might as well give incentive for those taxes.

personally i think no one has given thought to the long range game plan. ive heard rumors of the space expansion coming around april 2004. if this is so, and they allow starports, what level politician do you think will get it? master politician of course. personally, the ability to have taxes on allllllll interplanetary travel tickets is worth being a master politician to me. granted teh ability to chose the 2 city specs would be a great advantage. i like the idea of the societies much better. what if the devs add a couple of more city societies?

I believe player cities will get a space port that allows players to access their spaceships. But the devs have said time and again, player cities will not get starports. Yes in the distant future there is a good chance that master politician will yield some benefits.


I would take any change to the master level bonuses. Be it:


Economic Society - 20% increase to mission payouts, 10% reduction in city maint fees


Martial Society - 15% increase to all defensive roles while in town, 15% discount on faction items


What we have now is just abysmal.
