Is the drift optical or just in the coordinates?

I havent checked my WP but optical is hasnt moved since 2 weeks.

I think the coordinates from the city terminal might have changed. Last week, I set my city WP to the one in the city terminal: 156 -16 which put the WP in the center of the city hall dome (naboo style). Today after I heard from Tiaga, I checked again and the WP is: 156 -2 which puts the WP to the top of the stairs...off by 14 meters. Which is the city center? It's really only a 1 square difference as far as building placement is concerned, so it might not be that severe... but which is the center of town?

When I checked 3 days ago, we hadn't yet drifted. Hope it stays that way.

Tiaga,

I tried your earlier method of comparing the wp from planting the structure to the one listed in the management terminal. There was a 1m difference. Is this test still valid or is this one better?

I don't think ours has drifted, simply because people have been placing on edges and it has worked lately. But I will check tonight to make sure.

I'm checking and it says it's off by about 20m which puts it right in front of the City Hall. So if it's drifted, it hasn't drifted much fortunately.

Make sure you aren't using the city map waypoint, that is supposed to be in front of the city hall. (Not saying you are, but just making sure)

Sometimes the drift is hard to detect. It will move the city borders. Heres a hint though, city waypoints should ALWAYS be odd numbers. If you are seeing an even number, you've drifted.

Now before you pipe up, here is how to check if your city has drifted.

Go to the city management terminal and select status report. (I think that's the name it's the first item in the info.) Look for the line with Location. It lists two coordinates. Create a waypoint with these coordinates. To do this, assuming the coordinates were -1171 371 you would type:
/waypoint -1171 371
Now that you have the waypoint created and active, go out of the room with the city management terminal and walk half way across the room towards the opposite door. This should place you about in the center of the city hall. (But don't move to the exact center if it isn't, you should stand exactly between the doors.) Now look at the distance to this waypoint you just created. If it is more than 4m, your city has drifted.

Go on and try it. You don't need to be the mayor to test this. I would be interested to see if there are any cities that have not drifted. I checked the city I'm in and it had. I ran next door and checked our neighboring city and it had as well.

Do NOT use the waypoint from /find city or by creating it from the planetary map. This waypoint will always be in front of your city hall, which is not and should not be the center of your city.

I checked all 6 surrounding cities today and every single one of them had shifted (incl. ours, so that makes 7).

3 of them have shifted to the west

4 of them (ours included) have shifted to the east

Our city hasn't shifted since Monday (that's when we lost our Cloning Ctr and I started watching this, before I wasn't even aware of the problem).

Incidentally - as someone mentioned in Plinka's Official City Drift Thread: The advancement/update time is moving/shifting every week as well at a rate of approx. 4 hrs/week.

I'm not talking about the city hall waypoint, I'm talking about the one on the planetary map. If you stand by your city and type /find city, you will get a waypoint that is right in front of your city hall. I was saying not to use that one. The city hall waypoint, which should be the center of the city hall, is what measures the proper center of the city.

Oh sorry about that. I just confirmed, our town hasn't drifted at all - both the original waypoint and the location listed in the terminal are in the center of the hall.

Any drift is too much, we lost our cloning facility due to a drift as ours was on the edge of the city.
