Just an FYI here. This may have already been said beforehowevera brief search turned up nothing in this forum...

Imperials on the Bria server have issued a mandate that they will try to take over all rebel cities on Corellia... Prehaps other planets too. This may be relevant to other servers as well. There may even be a few jerk rebel guilds trying to do this as well.....

At least one city was taken over because they did notrequire zoning rights. The Imps took it over in a short few hours by organizing a massive drop of houses in the cities limits and then having the majority at the next election. FoE LFD LSW and other guilds sent out a confidential e-mail stating that they plan to take over all high level rebel cities by any means necessary and they have taken over oneso far named "ID controlled one". Just doesn't seem right... even if they didn't lock down the city to make this sort of thing tougher for the imps...

Obviously all of us mayors have spent a lot of time, regardless of faction, to make our cites great and I would hate to see any other city get taken over by force and then pieced out and/or sold off to the highest bidder.

A side note.... They also were going to use landminds around rebel cities but the patch took care of that little plan.....

So all politicians be aware. Good luck and I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else.

bah... if they weren't bright enough to lock down city placement serves them right... as for sieging cities? i'd like to see more of it... makes the game interesting... we were seiged a couple of weeks ago... it was fun... didn't work... but it was fun fighting off the siege engines...

I agree, not having zoning in place is madness and invites all sorts of trouble and strife.

It would be hard to take over a zoned city at the best of times, and even with a mass influx of residents most groups would have a hard time taking over a city (I mean most Mayors have a hard enough time trying to organise to be voted out), and realistically, the bigger the city the harder it would be to achieve their goals of ousting the incumbent.

I think, if a mayor is going to go through all the trouble of becominga mayor, maybethe mayor should enable zoning and periodically check the voting terminal.

I keep the zoning turned on at all times. It would be difficult for an Imperial guild to take over my city. I suppose it could be done, but it would be difficult and would cause one heck of a shouting match.

Accutally I wanted to put a 50 million credit bounty on a city that was greifing mine for the sucessfull takeover or destruction of the city by Alliance forces.

yeesh...I can see a lot of ways for people to scream GRIEFING!!! if this becomes common place. If someone were to put a 50 bazillion credit bounty on the take over of Aurora, I would be extremely angry. Not that I am unwilling to retire from the mayor position of Aurora, but retiring gracefully and a hostile takeover is another thing. Talk about the ruination of an online gaming environment.

well.. if you have zoning enable.... it is pretty tough.....

the only way is..

1. building around the borders... and grow into the city...

2. get an agent to become a militia member... this is harder (at least if the mayors and city planners are careful hehe)

3. forgot to revoke /grantzoningright on a citizen and that citizen just place/transfer houses for other members...

If the mayor and militia members are organize and careful.. it is really hard to take over a city.

those are the only two ways really taking over a city... it is hard any other way... (unless there is an exploit to plant houses within the city)
