The reason that the Politician forums always seems to be a rehash of the same old topicsis because there is very little to the profession? What do you activly do (on a day to day basis) as a politician? The city runs itself, the militia is only good for granting zoning rights and a Mayor does not have any real power over the city. Luckily for me, my secondary character is the my politician. So most of the time, he just sits at city hall and waits for the grass to grow.

I guess some like the challenge of getting more players in their city. If you have a lot of new crafters, you get to be the connection man/woman.. who needs what.. where can you get resources etc... most mayors are veteran players so you can help the new people advance with advice etc.. gives you something to do when you've done almost everything else in the game.

Well as well as the day to day task of looking after the city I also run the city/ guild events, try and organise the off pvp event, look after the new guys who have just started the game, think or other ways to people into the city, revise the decoration of the city and generaly mix it up with the citizens get a good community going the more effort you put into it the more you get out of it.

I guess it all depends on your outlook, if you see yourself as just a caretaker then that is all you will be, but if you have a bit of imagination which I guess most politicians must have then you can create a role/jobs for yourself.

I guess I've been playing this game too long... I just went home during lunch and logged in to see if our player city advanced... yep, sure did now a level 3.
