Well I don't know about getting them to pay for the privilege, but we do have the odd statue or garden placed to honour citizens past and present who have made a special contribution to the city.
Paying for those kinds of things kinda reminds me of seedy governments today that buy favours and things which otherwise they might not have access to.<>

Hello fellow mayors!
We recently instituted this fun new idea in Arcadia, and thought you might like it too:
Our citizens can buy their own personalized streetlight, and have it placed anywhere in the city they would like (within reason). The charge is 50,000c to own your own streetlight for 5 weeks. We have an architect make the streetlight with a custom name, like "Optica - Honored Arcadian", and then I place it wherever the citizen wants, even on their porch or walkway.
This generates money for our treasury, helps citizens feel like part of the community, and makes our city more beautiful!
