last week in politics

nothing happened in my city this week.

really, nothing happened. nothing important anyway, besides a few banned folks... but eh, it happens. the cantina owner sent out the cantina rules to the admins again, and that's that. we have pretty strict rules, and most people follow them. like I always say, "do whatever you want anywhere else, but not in NU."

same ol' for me personally... I'm waiting for the devs to read my threads, reading the forums (although the petition threads are starting to really get to me), giving my militia instructions, etc. nothng exciting, although it looks like some of you folks re-found my pictures /tsk, would you guys be as interested if it wasn't taken from behind?

I really need to get out of the habit of posting at 5am before bed O.o how was your city this week?

edit: laeren, you always msg me when I'm not looking what's up?

Dear Pappi:

City of Rauha, Naboo (Starsider)

The city revamp is going well, and we actually managed to recruit a few more people to our city (up to about 77 people). I'm having fun decorating the city (it's just a bigger area to decorate, after all...hehe), and since a lot of the city is privately funded, it's not a big deal what we spend on our decorations and structures.

The city chat channel is such a godsend! People are socializing, networking, and just chatting away, making us more of a community than just some people who come home, drop off loot, and run away again. It really has brought people together to work together and be a city.

Other than that, nothing too much more going on. I can't wait to be able to place large gardens!

Oh, and Pappi - that's what you get for leaving AIM up when you're not around

well, i guess this is an open thread for anyone to post what happened in their city this week. if not, i'm kinda new to the politician boards, so please forgive me.

So here goes.

Tonight, my city, New Kabala, will turn 4 weeks old. /cheer

Thanks to a few VERY high organics shifts, the city took in almost one million credits in treasury donations this week alone.

We took in one new member, making our citizenship 17 now. 3 more until we hit level 2.

I single-handedly successfully defended our city against a lair of Kimogillas. Our poor crafters couldn't leave their houses until I came to the rescue. (now that's a good mayor, taking on a lair of Kimogillas for his city)

I aquiried a few more rare items for our city's museum, as well as finished decorating one of the exhibit rooms.

Still trying to figure out what to do about our shopping mall. I don't have the lots to place it. i wish it was possible to place player buildings (such as houses) as city structures, and not use up my lots, and just have it's maintenance billed to the city treasury.

We also began seriously planning our first city sponsored Player Event.

So how was everyone else's cities' weeks?

Highlights: Well, I got 3 vendors removed out of tents on Market Street but I forgot about one other, so back to submitting a CSR report. One new resident. One of the merchants wanted to test an idea with having a vendor in the cantina, so I am letting him run with his idea. Helped out a citizen in converting their large house into an art gallery (made a few donations and providing ideas).

Downsides: Well, still neglecting thecity. Haven't been in the city hall for a week and the kitty litter box is beginning to smell. Think I will award a kitty litter cleaning contract to a noob in the Commune. Waiting for the end of the summer since I have a feeling I will see about 5 houses decay. This means more work for me to go out and socialize and try to find future citizens.

Searching: For composite knee high boots and composite hotpants.

Farpoint continues to thrive. This week we will go mulit-factional. This has gone over a lot better than expected. We were to have militantly Rebel guild move in. I announced we were going mulit, allowing Imperial to move in, and they decided to stay with us as the can see it will be good for them in the long run. The treasury took in over a million credits since Wednesday when I started actively asking for donations in my weekly city update email.

Well, i'm new around these parts so first of all a big hello to everybody!

I have recently taken over leadership of Nabubu City, currently the largest city on the Wanderhome server. We have 6 month term limits for our mayors, and I'm the third one to hold the office... We've done a modest amount of recruiting lately and have bumped our city up to 127 members and ~250 structures which is down from our peak population but still largest on the server. (Wanderhome isn't as heavily populated as other places)

We're a neutral city and have managed to implement a no-pvp policy that most people adhere to. Citizens don't attack eachother regardless of faction or overt status, but we can't always control what outsiders do. Recently we've had a problem with a Rebel guild on our server that basically has said they don't care about our laws or wishes, and have been causing some grief in-town. There have been some bannings, but I can't be online all the time and our militia is small so it hasn't helped. It would be really nice if /cityban could be applied to guilds as a whole, or people who are not currently targeted in the HUD.

I was also told about a bug that allowed banned people to continue to use the shuttle, however I have not been able to find out more about it or reproduce it... If I can, I'll post the info here.

On a more interesting note... we built a hot-tub in the city hall up on the stage using a fountain and some torches and had the first meeting of the 'Nabubu Swingers Club.' Lots of fun on that one, but the wookiees kept clogging up the filter.

Aurora remains a sanctuary for Rebel players. This week two gentlemen took over the duties of Deputy Mayor. They are Yabu Meekiag and Obeci Wavingmoon . Yabu is from the SPT Guild and a long time resident of Aurora . Obeci is from the Enforcers Guild and has been a resident of Aurora for some time now. The duties they are tasked with are as follows, Improve communications with the citizens of Aurora, Improve communications with Mayors in other Cities; They will also perform other tasks necessary for the City and its Citizens.

Aurora has brought a zero sales tax to town. These mean lower prices on every item on the vendors in Aurora. Rebel Yell Combat Arms has finally returned from its hiatus and is rapidly stocking its weapons vendors.

Aurora mall offers high quality products, at low prices and is only a 1 minute ride from Moenia, or a quick shuttle trip through the Aurora Shuttle port. The vendors are restocked every few days and the city is seeing a steady stream of customers to our citizen's vendors. With such great vendors asJor'ans Resources,Boceifus's weapons, Woseu's Armor, Cuk's Food, Ackac's Droids, Hadrian's Deeds and Furniture, Agoln's Meds, Yhaigs Clothing, and all the numerous miscellaneous vendors, Aurora is able to offer high quality goods and products at low prices. The mall is on the western edge of town and is currently undergoing some redecorating efforts as we refine our look and feel to better suit the shopping needs of our customers.

Aurora currently runs a 700k/week maintenance fee. This is reduced to 500k/week if the gardens are removed. With more sponsored gardens appearing in the city the finances are improving dramatically. At 50,000 credits per day the city only earns 350,000 credits. While that is a lot of money, it is still 150,000 less than our minimum maintenance cost. We would like to see more sponsored gardens this helps the appearance Aurora and helps finances.

Aurora. This will give the Enforcers more room to grow as well as the IF Guild. Aurora is looking into another area Ambassadors to other and from other rebel cities. If you are interested contact the Mayor, Yabu or Obeci. The Mayor will be out of town later this week so contact Yabu or Obeci .

Aurora. BOTD and E-Den have standard hunting nights and all folks are welcome to join them. SPT and IF are very active in the GCW and PvP. Check out the discussion groups at www.swgbotd.com.

Ill start by saying hello as i am new here . I have enjoyed reading the progression an accomplishments of your cities .

I am a New politician . We formed a city the past weekend on Dant outside the crystal cave area on Shadowfire named Shadogate . Im glad to say that even though we are about 5 hours from our first update that thing are going very well for us , more so then i ever expected .

We started the city as a group of friends 10 in total an invited friends we knew to join us . That had a snowball effect cause they in turn like the ideas we had an invited others . an we curently have 40 members + 3 outside the city limits as we couldnt find room to stuff another house in a 150M range , hehe .

The town started anouncing its open member policy yesterday an attracted about 10 people outside the circle upon cirle of friends .

Our curent goals are of course to have all the nice things a city can offer structure wise . We 10 had the skills to insure the placement of a cantina an med center an theater as well . The town has the Policy of open membership an neutral town status allowing for anyone or any faction an any guild to join us . We also have a guild there for those that wish to be part of one , an a great guild leader in Marl . We have sponcered solo groups from town every night since the initial town hall was placed an so far have had 3 sucessfull cave raids .

I am looking forward to the update so we can hopefully place trainers an actualy get us on the map . I opted for terminals first with the exp i got from my old town . We are also hopeing to get a garage this weekend as well (not sure if its rank 2 or 3 , hopeing 2) . An im already very anxious for the following update as we already have more then enough members to make rank 3 an get a clone facility (plus i can add melitia an not spend 8-12 hrs a day on makeing sure everyone has rights to place) .

I look forward to more post from you all on how things are going an ill try an keep you updated as well on how we are doing . Btw , I keep hearing that we hold some sort of record for groth is that even a posibility ? if so that would be a interesting badge to have , hehe .

Thank you all for your time , Dwar - Mayor of Shadowhaven , Dant , Shadowfire

A wierd, wierd week in Crimson Sands.

First of all, my girlfriend FINALLY got a copy of the game. (YAY!) She likes it so much I can never get to the 'puter any more.(BOO!) Still, citizenship went up by one because of it.

Secondly 2 of my citizens got married on Saturday. (congrats again, Icesse and Emp) The ceremony went well; the reception was...less impressive.

We're a neutral city, with strict no pvp in town rules. So, when 5-8 of our citizens landed in the cantina, spammed the word "music!" 48 times in 13 seconds and started shooting at each-other.

The lady who runs the cantina was understandably non-plussed. she was the bride too, so her tolerance was as low as you'd expect. Now, these people were asked very nicely to stop about 8 times. After a couple of minutes, they were locked out of the bar.

They ran off in a sulk and left town for good. Some of them just removed themselves from the city, and then whined when I removed them from the guild too. Seeing as residency in the town is one of the few guild rules, I pointed out they had no leg to stand on.

A couple of people were appologetic - one left anyways because all his friends were now gone, but sent be a very thoughful e-mail saying "sorry guys, hope there's no hard feelings, I'll miss you." A second realised that his behaviour wasless than respectful and promptly appologised without reservation.

We're currently looking at ways to make recruitment more vetted in town. Shuttleport be damned, this town is a community first.

On the plus side, this exodus managed to remove every single character I didn't really feel happy about being in my town (plus two or three I'll miss). So, my fellow politicians, forget trying to re-instate /citywarn and trying to get the power to kick out griefing citizens. Just hold a wedding.

Serious advice though - never, ever be held hostage by citizens. Tell them firmly, "I am not paid to listen to this drivel. You are a terminal fool."

Otherwise, the week was pretty uneventful.
