I am afraid that the proposal which will limit the amount of items a merchant can sell will be a major problem.
My player city has no taxes other than a sales tax (and shuttle fee). If the merchant limits are put in place not only will we lose merchants but we will lose a substantial amount of our weekly income from the amount of items that will be able to be sold.
I hope that the devs will think of this issue before they impliment any caps on the amount of items able to be sold.

Why don't you place a parking garage and charge people to use it?
I was under the impression that the cap was for the number of itemson vendors, not a cap on the number of items being sold.

It's not so much that - almost to a person all of the crafters in my city have announced that they are either quitting the game, or are quitting crafting and going solely into combat. Those that are quitting crafting are stoking up on armour, weapons and pups as they know these will become rare to find after Patch 10 is released.
Rational discussions about this should of taken place before it was decided to go ahead with this change. This hasn't happened so I seriously doubt any rational posting on the Merchant boards will be worth the effort.
The decision has been made, let the consequences begin.

I should have said... I do have a garage in town too.
My point about the nerf is that because there will be limits on the amount of items on a vendor, it can effect us by not having as many choices... hence not as many sales.

I'm the mayor of a "merchant city" with 88 shops. We have just over 375 structures and 450 vendors. The city is a community with active forums and weekly events. Costs for the city are just over 1 million credits a week, including 700,000c/week in automatic deductions, the rest being "city owned" themed buildings such as our Visitor Center, Militia Headquarters and the player held civic structures.
It's quite possible the entire city will collapse if the proposed vendor limits are placed.
I understand the need to "fix" the database but this bandaid approach will cripple the super producers. Individuals that sell hundreds of items a day. Not only will thousands of high quality player made items be forced into limbo, we simply wont be able to warehouse the raw materials, sub-components and finished goods.
No one is advocating 'stoare vendors' with several pages of 9999999+ cost items. I certainly look forward to empty vendors, owned by players without merchant skills, going away. However, the active master merchants in our city need to be able to list vast numbers of finished goods. Otherwise they will be forced to shuffle inventory and restock vendors once or twice a day.
It's well understood most of our super producers will simply quit in this situation.

Well, I'm a Master Artisan and Master Architect and Politician and I have 2 vendors - with about 600 or moreitems between them:
- one vendorin the player city
- the other vendor in a busy city
2 vendors serves my purpose, butLIMITing thenumber of itemsto 60 in each (120 items total) - is WAY TOO LOW.
Being Politician/mayor, I've already sacrificed a profession. Now, I'm being forced to sell LESS items as that will happen when I reduce my vendors to less items. I'm certainly not going to run outto fill my vendors every day.
I really think between having Art & Arch - there's just way too many items. Just furniture alone is alot. Can you imagine the Armorsmiths with suits consisting of 9 separte pieces ?? They'll only be able to put 5 complete suits on one vendor.
Although I really enjoy Art and Arch, I have enough in savings to retire if it's too much of a hastle. Then again, I think the JLT and the new Jedi will change the whole economic/suply and demand that we've created in the past.
I feel a great disturbance in the force and changes in the future.

60 item cap????
man that just doesn't make sense.
Though lately many of the vendors in my city have been empty OR close to it. There are those out there that opperate vendors with well over 100 or over 500 items.
If they want to cap it then 600 items seems more along the lines of adequate.
If you're selling 600 items a day then raise your prices LOL
