Billboards
Billboardsthat are a static part of the city hall. Having a billboard in front of the city hall would allow citizens of that city to post information such as hunts, races, pagents, etc. Each citizen would be allowed one post with a limited amount of characters to post information on any activity they would like to sponsor. Information on their merchant wares or vendors that may not be easily visible. Non-player cities would have the actual player events listing posted on this billboard for the sponsoring city.
For instance a race or crafter event in Mos Eisley would be posted in the player events forum but also visible in the sponsoring cities bulletin board. Retrieving this information via the holocron is not really feasible since the retreival of player events via the holocron takes up to 30 minutes sometimes to view due to the slowness of the retrieval process in the holocron.
Having a bazaar like interface but only for information that allows a person to stop by the cities bulletic board and find a merchant that sells something hard to find like seeker droids for instance would allow faster communication between the buyer and the seller. The mayor and militia would have the ability to delete any offensive posts on this board. The board should have the ability to post information that is viewable be either visitors to the city or citizens of the city ONLY. A simple checkbox would suffice.
This would allow player generated gatherings to have a purpose that is easily viewable by visitors. A central place for visitors to find what they need and some form of communication in-game between players when the person posting is not online when u read the message. Give us this and im sure we can take it from there =)
City experience points
XPs for cities would allow a city that focuses in a certain aspect based on actions performed by its citizens and improve its city as the city grows. For instance, a city that is geared toward merchants would get certain xps based on items sold. A city that is a stronghold would gain benefits for the amount of citizens killed in the opposing factions city and gain xps in that fashion. This process would be slow and should take 1-2 months to acheive this goal. The rewards would be improved signs for merchants, (NEON and blinking for instance), buildings with varied hues in color, so they are not identical (one city could have mostly blue hued buildings making it particularly unique and tempting to live in if u prefer bluish), new statues unique to a certain city that can only be crafted by citizens OF THAT city only, etc. They could only be sold in that city which would generate trading between cities.
A stronghold city that is fighting an opposing factions city would gain city xps to allow it to purchase items of a military nature (turrets, perimeter walls, mines, etc.) Take all these perksout of the recruiters and give this to a city that symbolizes itself as an imperial city or rebel city or neither etc. A city thats recognized as a stronghold obviously is leaning toward one faction and not both so the perks allowed should be given to that cities leaning.
This will allowed the politician profession to become an actual assest to the GCW. All they are now is a glorfied structure placer. The politician profession like all ppl in areas of power would now actually HAVE power to invest and strengthen his city and lead it in the direction the city votes to go toward.
Voting Terminal
Fix the voting terminal so that the mayor can actually post a question every week such as "should we add more merchant tents or expand the current base defensive perimeter?" This would give the mayor the ability, through input from its citizens to have a say in which direction the city is heading towards. Right now the player cities community deals mostly with emails and sending tells. Coordinating some sort of goal for a city is frustrating and its citizens usually have no idea. A mayor should have the overall ability to get a feel for what its citizens like and dislike and try and make that happen if possible.
please post comments or suggestions that are contructuve in nature only thank you
Additional (not PC related)
In-game calculator
Having to alt-tab to calculate the amount of resources to place into a factory is frustrating. Being able to alt-tab back as a crafter with limited ability to fight if a nearby aggro attacks u can send you to the clone center fast. Have a simple /calc option to pull up and calcualte how much is 1137 times 652 would be awesome. A crafter should have some sort of tools like this to enable their crafting experience to be more efficient.

Some good ideas, but there are more feasible ways to do some of these things. For billboards, go get a free board at ezboard.com and there ya go. Oh yeah, your citizens would have to alt+tab out of the game to view them. I think they can handle it.
For posing different questions to the people, you can buy a voting terminal from an architect and put whatever question you like on it. Dunno if it actually works, cuz I know it used to be broken....
As for "City XP".....interesting, but I doubt it'd ever happen. too large of a system to build...

thats the point of this post, so you DONT have to alt-tab to accomplish something that should be a part of the gaming experince. If I have to use a 3rd party interface to accomplish this then how is some new player going to know to go to this particular site and find this information. The idea here is to make information easier and faster to access not longer by alt-tabbing and delaying the information gathering process. Thanks for your post tho =)

2 easy ways to create a "billboard"
1 get a tatooine sun orb (best looking statue for this purpose) made that has the name of what you want to advertise to your citizens. They'll have to look at it every so often to see if it got updated but the same would be true for any other billboard type structure that would be put in the game.
2 furniture placement. Have a bookcase (master looks classiest for this) turned around and put up against a wall somewhere in your city hall. Place swordcores on it at similiar heights if you want the extra feel of lines that a real billboard/pushpin corkboard has. Then place a low lvl backpack named whatever you want the billboard to say inside it. Turn it around so the flat part normally on your back sticks out so that only a flat square is visible. To change the text for this you only have to pick it up and copy and paste instead of spending a few k.
For both you're going to have to more or less shorten the message to be near cryptic however it should get the point across.
As for voting terminals...well they do work but they only last for 1 day which makes them relatively useless. I have one in my hall to vote on referendums but since it would be almost impossible to actually use it I just send out city mails or decide on things with my friends in the upper echelons of the city base to give their input on ideas.

Regarding the billboard idea, in Tirius we have a Tourist Information Tent just outside the shuttleport which advertises the coming event. Then inside on the tourist info officer (vendor) we have electronic memory modules set at 250000 named with different headings to provide an in game equivalent to the holosite with ref to go there for further information. e.g.
\#00CCFF\Moving to Tirius\#.
Do you like what you see here? So much so that you are
interested in moving in yourself? If that is the case please take a moment to complete the Residency Application Form available from the data terminal at www.tirius.co.uk.
This ensures that we collect all the information we require from you both for the planning application itself and the citizen directory. You are advised to familiarise yourself with the city map in preparation for placement should your application be accepted.
Your application will then be considered by the City Planning Committee and you shall be contacted by one of them regarding the outcome of your application.
In city hall itself we have data terminals set up named as:
Tirius Holosite
www.tirius.co.uk
In addition to citize mailing, there are in game methods of getting information out there although they all require a little imagination and a proper interface would be nice.

I would love to have more signs in this game cause I think renaming (and not being able to change em back) on items like segments and travel packs and doodads of any sort is lame. we need better communication ability like a personal calling card for a persons house without resorting to crafting gadgets to make a statement. Its just silly they dont make this stuff ingame.

Allexcellent suggestions!
Yes u CAN get an internet forum and yes u CAN Alt+Tab out....but thats no fun at all!
We have a forum, but it hardly ever gets used because people are having too much fun playing
I use Alt+Tab a lot but it frequently upsets my computer and by the time I've got the calulator open I've forgotten what the numbers were!
I know you'll probably say I'm being lazy and dumb, and maybe I am....but thats why we have technology to make things easier!
