With the new changes PvP has become a lot more popular (yay no gank squads of hidden enemies) but also a bit more difficult to get engaged in. In order to declare you have to go to a NPC city, sometimes only 1 per planet if you're losing, or a PvE base. The Spec Ops bases require you to be 'overt' in order to enter it and do anything with the recruiter inside so it is basically impossible to use a PvP base as a means tostart PvP'ing. However they are the only bases with a true staying power and one that is worth the investment to have as a part of a town. Despite this the only true doorways to fighting is travel away from thecities with bases to Moenia find a recruiter or constantly re-place a PvE base to have your own. The former detracts from the game and the latter is just unreasonable.
With the new meaning given to bases of all kinds and the new rules governing combat I think now would be a good time to reawaken the debate of giving factional recruiters to mayors at martial 4 as a new type of skill trainer placable in a city. It would encourage PvP where bases can't and, with bases having new meaning, does not detract from theirusefulness and worthlike it did a few months back.

they meant the NPC stronghold cities.
and PC, you should remember that really long GCW/poli thread we did... well recently I passed the link to the new(est) GCW corr. since there's currently no way to declare a city as a faction, it doesn't make sense for the city itself to be able to hold recruiters.
my knowledge in the GCW is limited, so you'll have to bug the GCW corr

Fair enough, I understand that a city should probably be part of the Alliance or Empire in order to be able to place (just like being a certain rank or something) and get PC's more involved in the GCW but frankly at this point it seemstoo far offto suggest this strapped on to the already long list of things that need tweaking in the GCW. This should be a quick-fix that could be done now instead of waiting for the revamp to come out sometime in summer. Guess I'd better go over to the vipers den and give it a shot there.

getting player cities involved in the GCW would be great, but I don't think it'll happen soon. I'll continue to work with the GCW corr on that, and maybe it'll happen some day

we can place factional terminals!
so where s the big difference to placing also recruiters
having someone standing in the city, trying to recruit citizens for his army, doesn t make the city factioned.

Something that wasn't fully thought out when the publish went live. Oh well, nothing new for us. I heard a few complaints about this and it seems that allowing player cities to become factional with a recruiter would heat the GCW up more.
Martial 4 sounds reasonable. A recruiter with an office. A recruiter's office. Recruiter office deed made by an architect(must be factional?), a building to be place (maybe with the recruiter inside?) and something to drain the city treasury (we know how they love credit sinks :smileywink

Well I'd be happy with a random NPC and a flag/desk but a deed would be interesting. Perhaps the recruiter tents that came out with the perks only permanent for us if the maint stays in it. That way it's no new art or real work on their part as far as ground up nothing to build off of tyype system. I know it was an oversight and they're probably going to add a recruiter to the outside of the bases or something soon but still this seems like a nice add on with that for a hotfix to give cities that little bit extra of an edge to PvP in.
Afterall the attackers will be camping the base so that recruiter wouldn't be safe. Your permanent one by the cloner and/or city hall would be. Especially if it's just the NPC so it can be placed inside of structures so /banned guys can't come in and camp him. I dunno, just figured the issue would be a good idea to resurface with the recent changes.

The idea of using Art work already in-game is one way that we could make this simpler to implement.
One thought occured to me while writing a memo for work just a moment ago. Might it be possible to place a recruiter & desk in the city hall and only in the city hall? Regardless of declared faction, if the mayor had a menu option to place factional recruiter, and it was only placeable in the city hall that would eliminate the need to have a deed crafted. I am trying to make it a mayor-only ability, maybe giving Master Policiticans a reward for all our hard work.
Just a wild thought....
ok..back to work.
PS...Pappi, is there any discussion around a reward or prize for mayors that have been in office for X length of time? Or for cities that have been in existence for X length of time? As mayors, we are often under appreciated with few people realizeing how freaking much work we do without ever leaving city hall. Again, some kind of city hall decoration would be awefully nice. Or maybe a black limosine with our own secret service detail? Heck I would be happy with a "fact finding mission" to a resort on a tropical beach.

While I personally wouldn't use them, I think that Faction Recruiters are a very reasonable thing to ask. Put them at Martial policy 4 and let each city decide if they want them placed, like factional terminals.
