Thread: Why are threads being locked with no explaination?

I see two threads that have not seemed to be heated conversations in any way being deleted when they are on topic to thepolitician forum.
Why is this? And no, they arent my threads, one of them i even posted in to help the person figure out his problem.

I don't know why the mods decided to lock it, but I reported both threads. I'll start by reminding folks that I don't have mod powers (besides stickying posts), so mods use their own judgement on post appropriateness when they lock/delete/edit something.
the older one is a really old thread with outdated and misleading (false) information. the topic is still valid, but the thread isn't.
the second one was fine until the poster insisted that everyone who's helping him is futile, and it doesn't apply to his case. this makes his problem an isolated incident, and he should contact a CSR to have it fixed.
mods don't always post an explanation on why they lock threads... they don't have to. here's the first paragraph of my "readme" post:
Welcome to the politician forum! Please familiarize yourself with the SOE Forums Usage Guidelines before posting in this forum. If you still have questions on the types of behavior that is inappropriate, please refer to GarVa's post.
