My mayor, Pammiesue, was informed by CSR-SarahM that the ONLY taxation in the game that works at the moment is a 10% setting. She's visiting the doctor for most of today so asked me to post this.
Basically, we set up a test that proved that the tax money is literally going nowhere. Merchant isn't receiving it (at the 1% setting) and it is not going into the city treasury. We estimate that over 15 million in taxes has been lost since this was noticed to be happening (polling the major merchants in town).
I implore you, Pappi. lobby to get this fixed. I don't mind paying extra each week to take care of the city, but I do mind the credits disappering.

Which tax are you talking about? All of them, or just the sales tax? We have known about sales taxes being broken for some while. Are they all borked now? I know property taxes were not working, but they seem to be now. Ill pay attn this week.

its actually the sales tax.

I am interpreting this correctly that a 10% Sales Tax will actually work?

If that is true, then at least we could charge a sales tax, if we wanted to. 10% is a bit steep, but at least it would add revenue.

When I was working on the FAQ and the Politician/Player City Guide, a CSR confirmed for me that sales tax *does* work correctly at 10%. That is the only percentage where it works correctly, though. The rest of the time it goes all over the place (sometimes the merchant, usually not the city, and very often into limbo).
The garage tax does work, or at least it has everytime I've tested it. The shuttle fee works at 100 credits if the ticket is bought in the city. Property tax works, but pulls money in at various times throughout the week so it's hard to track. Income tax seems to work as well (have not done extensive testing on it myself).
What has everyone's experience been with the shuttle tax? I've heard various reports of it resetting to 100 credits after server reset, working fine at 500 credits, and appearing to work fine at 500 credits but only putting 100 credits into the treasury.

if I get a dollar every time I mention sales tax to a dev, I would probably have to pay taxes on it as income
I remind them every chance I get and then some, since I consider this one of our priority issues. 
p.s.: and what Khristen said is correct. income tax *is* shaky (I've heard of accounts where it's not paid if the person doesn't log in for the week, although I don't have a way to verify that), but it should bring in money... as well as property tax, shuttle tax, and garage tax. the really major issues I'm pressing the devs on right now are taxes, dual citizenship, and the purge, in case anyone wants to know

If there is any chance to give us warning of -when- the purge will hit... even if it's just a few hours...
I'm expecting to lose 20 out of 80. If I'm correct then my shuttle is safe. If I have miscalculated...

The Sales Tax is indeed bugged. The one confirmed tax level that did work was 10%. That's a bit hefty for most cities however.

Can we get a confirmation that 10% sales tax actually works and goes into the treasury? If that actually does work, thats would be quite a boon.

that is what csrSarahM told me to set ours at 10% as it was the only one working.
on the shuttle tax all that ive ever seen go into the city treasury's or heard of after talking to several mayors on tempest is 100 creds, anything more then that goes to the galactic whatever.
on income tax it holds it out once a week for one of my alts, but if you then go and check the city treasury it doesnt show up, but im not sure when they add that stuff so i still cant say for sure if its working as should or not.

can you please also get them to do something about letting the milita actually do something to protect the citizens of a city? and yes i too would like for the other things youve mentioned to be taken care of. but we have alot of jedi in our city that moved there for the added protection of the milita we have, and now the milita cant do a darn thing but sit and watch. would be nice that if a bh comes into our city after one of our citizens we could protect them, like it was said to be.
