Thread: Urgent Q: Creature Spawns within City Borders

I have an urgent question that needs a timely and accurate answer regarding creature spawns within city limits.
Do city locations and city limits affect creature spawns and if so how?
I am thinking about placing a city near either the Krayt Graveyard or somewhere on Dant but I don't want my city to decrease the spawns of Krayts or Dant mobs as this is the reason I am creating cities there because of the spawns.

considering that there's a krayt right outside my shop right now, I don't think that's a problem.

sorry for pm.
it was urgent only because i just placed a city and someone asked me to remove it because they say my citywill prevent kraytsfrom spawning within a 2000m radius of the city hall.
i didn't find it likely either because i see krayts spawn all over and around mos elsewhere and its only 1000 m away from the graveyard but i guess they could just be being trained into the town.
however, i just chatted with csr christopherS and he said that my city will prevent creatures from spawning but only within currentcity limits.
i'm still very concerned because i don't want to bother otherpeople's fun.

I wouldn't worry to much - it will decrease spawns within city limits, but Tatooine on Bria is at the limit for Cities and Metropoli, so you won't grow to full size will only be affecting a small area.

thanks! i dropped the city right by the krayt graveyard and hope to have it established later tonight. i would eventaully like to grow it to place a shuttle and grow now more after that so that we only affect an area big enough needed to place a shuttle.

If your city grows enough to place a shuttle you will be affecting almost the max area possible.

btw if they ever allow us to choose whether or not we want MOBs to spawn, which would be the best solution, then I would choose to allow those Krayts to spawn. I want those Krayts spawning all over my city!! woot!

yeah i know the shuttle would be second highest radius available but i will stop there. something's better than nothing and its all that i can do. again i believe they should let us choose whether or not we want mobs to spawn in our city. and i would choose the path of danger =)

Doh!
Sounds like the Krayt's End of Bria.
On Lowca, there's a city practically INSIDE the graveyard, named Krayt's End. before they increased Krayt spawn rates, the spawn rates of Krayt dragons were all screwed up on Lowca. They almost never spawned. Of course now Krayt's End is always crawling with Krayt Dragon Ancients. sometimes they guard the shuttle port, killing people as they try to leave, or first load in the city.

lol i might have to create a char on lowca so i can check it out. teehee.
our city, Mos Krayt was crawling with Krayts yesterday as was Mos Elsewhere.
It was awesome! Hey this is a game and I'm having fun.
Getting more bang for my buck by trying to experience as much as possible and so far it's been a blast.
As for our citizens they also love having all the Krayts spawn right in and around the city.
It's the most fun any of us have ever had visiting a city. We have rifleman taking pot shots at Ancients right outside of the City Hall steps. It's hilarious I tell ya. The citizens really love it. Feels like the old west or like the new frontier or something like that.The Krayts bring great charm and excitement to the appropriately named Mos Krayt.

Personally, I think it's rude and in poor taste to put a city near or on a POI. There should be a 1km "no build zone" around POI's and dungeons. While occassionally helpful (getting to out of the way places) it can screw up the spawn timers.

problem being that facts are hard to gather with things like creature spawn with/without a city, since it's hard to test. the city area should not have spawns, but it shouldn't affect the surrounding areas too much.
if you're really worried about decreasing the krayt spawn, you can create your city a bit away from the krayt yard. as I've mentioned earlier I've seen a few krayts (probably spawned nearby) roaming the city I live in on Ahazi the last few days, and we're over 1.5k away from the krayt yard POI... and my fiance ran into 4 krayts at once about 500m outside of the city. krayt spawns doesn't seem to be a problem, at least on my server O.o

they don't seem to be affected from the activity i've monitored either and i've been at our city non-stop the last few days.
