a while ago after taking down some bases my guild dropped a house outside of a town in order to have a nice staging point for future battles. we placed as close as possible to the border, but definately were not in the town. there were no notification of joining etc.
so the defeated parties were not too happy and said it was an exploit being that close, and we were being reported, and banned and on and on. i contacted a csr, they came and checked it out, and said as you would expect, of course thats not an exploit, nothing at all wrong with that.
this was months and months ago, but tonight the same opportunity presented itself. we placed some staging houses again, as close as we could to the border, and again get threatened with we are reporting you etc etc etc. note this town has the added benefit of growing soon. its nice to be a member of an enemies town.
my question to you politicians is there some change recently in policy or csr thoughts that makes these people think we are somehow exploiting? its very clear you cant place a house IN a town. close but not it. i dont see this as anything more than people upset they are getting attacked and we want a staging area. grasping at straws if you will.

The first time you said =a house=. That second time you said =some houses=.
Big difference. You might be in trouble.

I don't think it is an exploit - we have had people do that to our city - its annoying but hey its outside of the city boundaries.

are people trying to move in and take over a town via a new mayor election exploiting then?
and as far as bad taste goes it is a war, this move wasnt to make friends ![]()

Sadly no, it happened on our server just this past week however the way it was gone about is questionable. I won't go into a tirade on it here though, did enough of it on my forums and at this point I'm just going to let it be. Sad thing is, things like that is the sole reason we as politicians will never get any true power over our towns.

It's not exploiting. It is in bad taste however.
Especially if you were to place a "good many" and then the city expanded to include those houses.

Assuming the planet isn't maxed out on cities wouldn't it even be possible to throw down a city hall and cloning center to actually create a full city to stage from?

Running a city takes a lot of work and even more creds, I wouldn't recommend starting one unless you were really dedicated to it.

Having all these houses on the border can be construed as an attemt to gain entry to the town if/when it grows to the next statge.
If it does grow to the next stage, the radius of its city limit will grow, and your guild hall and 'staging' houses will be inside city limits, giving the owners of the hall and the houses the ability to declare residenct, vote in the election and run for mayor w/o ever having been granted zoning rights.
This is what the city folks are getting bent about. You are making an appearance of trying wrest control of their city by potentially getting your people into the city w/o their consent.
