Cities and Housing
edit: folks like to take things I've said months ago and bring it up, so let me update this. if your post is a "how does (insert change related to city) affect politicians?" or "I'm a mayor, I have a question about (insert city function here)", they are on topic and more than welcomed.
however, if you're discussing ideas that does not affect politicians or mayor specificly (such as general discussion about player city by non-politicians, non-civic buildings, housing bugs, militia and their role (or lack thereof) in the city, etc.) they are probably more appropriate over in the cities and housing forum. I am more than happy to discuss how these changes affect politicians, however the forum that's appropriate for the discussion is now out of my "correspondence area".
it's fine if you make two posts, one that says "what do the politicians feel about this?" and "what does the general public feel about this?" in the corresponding forums, but please don't just copy/paste.

Dead horses are the funnest ones to beat though
Yeah after people stop making the "more storage!" and "make new types of homes/new looks" and stuff we've asked for continuously and you either told us is impossible etc. I don't see the forum being any different then what we'vehad for the last how long. Ah well, just means one more page to click on and skim so no biggie. Sucks for you though since there are a lot of "politician" issues that are being rehashed. Heh, might as well get a 2nd correspondent title under your name there paps.

While it is a lot of dead horses, it may be good for us in the long run. It's getting a lot more people involved in discussion and putting a lot of attention on Player Cities. People who don't normally speak up here or on the architect forum (where a lot of their dead horses are being dragged up in the new forum, too) are at least talking about things. Maybe with some new people beating on the proverbial horse, we can get some new ideas.
Anything that sparks interest/discussion in Player Cities can't be that bad of a thing.

Hmm. True. When I saw all those new forums I was thinking, "Oh great. New redundant clutter and more places for people to post the wrong questions in the wrong forums." But then again... a lot of that rehashed and talked to death stuff really were questions that didn't particularly fall under the umbrella of just one profession.
For example: How many lots do each type of house take? That falls under either Architect or Politician as both have to deal withthat information constantly. I'm sure we could all cite several examples of multi-profession Q&As.
"Cities and Housing" would also be the best forum for discussing issues that require the input of more than one profession. Such as Wish Lists for future features. Politicians, Architects, Merchants and PA leaderscould cross-pollinate each other for ideas on how to improve cities, add more decorative and civic structures, (merchant malls, bridges, walkways, lights, apartments, etc.), lots consumption, storage, advertising, multi-guild city channels, Player city NPCs for content... etc.
If a multi-profession FAQ could be compiled for the C&H forum, it would eventually get the idea across just what types of Q&A belong there. Perhaps?

it's not, until it drives me crazy O.o
technically kstarfire should be managing that forum, so I don't *have* to read it... and judging from how it's going I will probably just lurk. I guess it's not too bad if folks move all the CSRish stuff over there
p.s.: as I've told the devs, I'm all for forums to talk about NPC cities and housing, however separating player cities with politician will be confusing for most and stressful for me. politicians corrs implicitly deal with player cities before, but I guess I don't have to no w

I'm confused. what are we supposed to discuss in the politician forum if not player cities?

Honestly, there's not a whole lot of clarity of who is supposed to be keeping an eye on things over there. That's one heck of a lot for one person to deal with, even if KStarfire is the Core Systems person. They made a lot of cross-profession areas there, that doesn't fall exclusively to one person or another.
I have to admit that I wasn't real certain of the need for some of the topics, but now that it's up and rolling it's starting to make much more sense. It's more of an ideas area where the Profession forums are for the meat and potatoes of how things currently work/don't work and for asking questions related to the class skills.

p.s.: looks like most (not all) of the player city discussions there are just dead horses that people are dragging out and beating again, so I'm gonna keep an eye out. however, if you have something poli-related or you want me to see, find me here

How very strange - you cant talk about player cities in the Politician Forum? What next - maybe the Brawler forums should only discuss dancing.
Good thing this got sticky'd to the top.
