I'll make a new thread each Monday for use throughout the week for youto let me and the rest of the Politician community hear how things are going in your city, events planned, tips you might have learnedlike ways ofusing specializations efficiently, new facilities being placed, any interesting dynamics like mergers with new partners to grow your cities or issues of disagreement between your citizens, anything having to do with your politician skills, new skills, skills sold back, newissues, frustrating bugs, or just a quick status report. It will be easy for me to keep up with a digest version ofthe goings-on of the community this way, and perhaps a way for you all to get to know each other as players dedicated to the concept of building communities in the Star Wars universe.

I'm sorry not to have a full report from my city for you today, but my personal schedule has been abnormally busy, and other than getting the new "this week..." posted, I won't be back to my normal routine until tomorrow at least. At that point, we'll move the city involvment in the GCW project forward, and I'll give you the week's happenings in my city, too. Hope you've all had a good week, and I'll look forward to reading your weekly updates as always.

Corbantis: Naboo: Apotheon

The Mayor of the largest neutral metropolis in the galaxy has been absent for months. Except for an occassional shuttle to Naboo, he has been maintaining some sort of business operation on Coruscant. Things came to a head last week when rogue smugglers and swoop gangs began to harrass citizens.

Security Forces were called in (mercenaries) and dispatched the trouble makers. During the two days of fire fights a brazen slice attempt was made on the Banking Center. Highly modified molecular clamps were recovered and the Mayor sent Shu Mai Investigative Operatives from the Commerce Guild on Coruscantto Naboo to try and learn more about the hack attempt and the origin of the clamps....

Praeclarus, Corellia (Sunrunner)

Where to start. Our city had a good week... though we have been struggling a bit since several members dissapeaeard leaving there houses and tents behind. I am happy to say one of our tents that was taking up prime market area space finnaly burned to the ground. I can finnaly move someone into that area again...

I have been working at getting some Exotic gardens, but dear god is there never an architect to make them. I guess this enforces the whole exotic concept... but Bajeesus... throw me a freakin bone here.

We have been working on our website for the city pretty intensively, several of us from sunrunner use a company called www.GuildPortal.com. The great thing about this site is it allows many different guilds to share one calander with special events on it, as well as other alliance and trade interfaces. These things have made organizing multi city events and alliances much more smooth. I highly reccomend using it for your city if you do not have a website. It is free + Popups.

Other than that we had our weekly event which was one of the best events ever I think. Working hard on coming up with new and innovative events to keep our citizens and allies entertained!!!

Rauha, Naboo (Starsider)

The two guilds moving into our city have made significant progress in setting up. AKI is now open for business, they have their PA Hall Mall set up, and an extensive array of goods for sale. House Ojike, an RP guild, is also in the process of setting up. Has been very interesting seeing the reactions to them, given our "country bumpkin" nature of the town. It'll be interesting to see how a Royal Imperial House influences our citizens. Although they are an Imperial House, our city remains neutral, something which has caused several arguments over the course of the past couple of weeks (this isa good thing, as the fights were RP-based, of course).

Traffic in our city has seen a nice rise over the course of the past week, due to the new guilds and somewhat, I believe, to the lucky recognition Ireceived from Q3PO and GarVA for my chessboard (on the front page of the SWG web page). Hopefully, it'll draw in some people to think about settling down, or look at our vendors and shops. We've received nothing but compliments for our city layout and decorations so far.

Maintaining our GCW neutrality is a constant struggle, of course. We get overts through our town all the time, and it's a tense time, not because they're overt, but because I'm afraid other overts will come in and they will fight. We are trying to maintain a peaceful atmosphere, but since our city is located very close to a major Imperial city with lots of bases to attack, Rebel guilds have been using our city asa staging point. We're trying to discourage this, but it still happens, and we don't have a lot of solutions for it except to either lose our shuttleport or lose our cloner, neither of which we're inclined to do. We also refuse to fortify our cloner or city in any way, as that would just invite attacks from either side. Our only real choice is to warn the Imperial city of the impending attack each time we see rebel forces amassing in our cloner area. Perhaps that will discourage the sneak attack raidsfrom our city. We'll have to see, as it edges on "taking a side"...but since the Imperial city is our next-door neighbor, leaning in that direction is probably the better course of action.

The City of Ostium Vepres on Tatooine in the Bria Galaxy has had little to no change in its size. Although we have people leaving and people coming in all the time, we still maintain a size just under metropolis level. I suppose we are in no real rush, do to the extra cost on the city. But the extra decoration space would be nice.
On that note, I did a count of all the decorations I have placed in the city. Sadly I believe there is some kind of bug and there should be a few spaces left, even though I always recieve an error message when I try and place any additional decorations.
The dramatics never cease in my city. Just about 100% of the citizens belong to a single guild (The Servants of the Shrub). Sadly we are not the most active guild when it comes to hunts or PVP activities. This has caused a few of our guild mates to flee to other guilds (and other cities) which is the main cause for our decline in citizens.
We also had an incident a while ago where some harsh words were exchanged between a pair of vendors, and one of the vendors left town because of it. This was a blow to the city, as I personally felt she was the best vendor we had.
The cash flow is miserable. I am poor and have no money. And due to the large number of skill points I was forced to give up for Politician I may never have enough to put towards a profession that will help pay for my own personal expenses. I have settled for 1k missions at our town mission terminal. I am finding it hard not to give into tempation and change our city specialization to "Improved Job Market".
If only the Devs would stop being lazy and fix master Politician skills, I might be able to set "Improved Job Market" as our second specialization.

The Metropolis of Arroyo Dantooine ( Farstar) Has been at this level fro a month, and havng tried improved job market fo a while, we have swiched to Manufacturing centre. WE will be returning ot improved job market, as cash seems to be one of the greatest tourism attracters, and we are fine with economic migrants, as long as they are part of the imperial cause. to this point their has been no attempted attack on the two small imperial garrisons stationed int he town. Proposals for a new theatre have been aceepted by founder council on teampspeak and the Citizens chosen to do this will reach the appropriate skill level with formal investure of Master Dancer status this evening, all welcometo attend the foundation laying.

Withinthe next fortnightI shall be mastering politican and looking to retire after a successful tenure of 4months building the city form inception to metropolis. I have nominated the next mayor and will be making moves towards changing this shortly, though fears over inactive players do worry us as the 75 skill points tied up in politican with no hope of holo reward are simply too much for me to bear. Whilst enjoying the role, the stress and burden placed upon my gmaing time has not been plesant, to give to the galaxy a city of 90+ loyal imperials citizens adn receive nothing but a badge in bio is somewhat disheartening..

"When Sony and Lucas set out, we said, How can we do this and not make another EQ? We didn't want it to be all about Luke, or combat, or lock our players into a class. So we created a system that would allow players to switch professions during the game, and there would be a lot of gameplay around making that change. If you want to go from architect to scout we've created a system to make that happen."

The citizen timer has been turned off. Our greatest ally in helping rid Eclipse Naboo of dead towns has been postponed, with no explanation.

Therefore, Techno City continues to lay dormant waiting....... not for fluctuating Player Cities, but tools such as the timer to be restarted. Without it, how are groups of people going to let their City rot?

Smuggler's Cove, Naboo, on Radiant, lost its shuttleport this week due to the inactivity timer. These weren't cross-server lots either, they were real Radiant players who just disappeared but are apparently still paying for their accounts. Now we can't get the spot back even though there appears to be one opening. Argh!

Mayor: Tron'

City: Fort Bantha

Server: Flury

Well its been a few weeks since i re took over the city but its been a long hard road. Our old mayor wanted to drop poli. and so she did and our city was no more. She later destroyed part of our base and join the rebels. Well now i can't get the people to re declare to get back to city rank 3. Hope our city will grow soon. See you next week.

This week of 4/13/04

I became Poli 3323 on friday, for some reason our city udate is drifting faster than our base times did. It used to fall on Tuesdays. Anyway we are just 3 citizens from metro we are very excited about this. We aquire a new citizen or two each week so we decided not to push anyone into citizenship so that we gain metro the right way so that we dont lose it as fast as we get it. I look forward to loggin in each day to see what Mos Alianza is up to.

I feel that cities really do need "City Chat" as our city tends to eb a guild of guilds. We have 4 guilds living in our city along with independents. mosalianza.com has now been parked and should be live in a bout 2 weeks time. I am running the site from my house using an IP forwarding service so that I can make updates on the fly without the need to upload files and I can have as much content as I can fit on my hard drive Granted at first im using a blank template since I dont posess enough knowlege on how to use frontpage2003 yet but the site is coming out awesome anyway.

that is this week in Poli for Mos Alianza

Peace out!

SYN city

Tarquinas

I am not the mayor, but I am active in the political scene of our city. It is a dire time for us. Our incumbent mayor has grown weary of playing I think, he logs on less and less and is playing another game. We have begun the process of electing a new mayor but he is 6 votes short of a majority. There are so many citizens who no longer log on, or aren't active enough to care to vote. We have dropped from a city to a township and have lost our shuttleport, bank and mission terminals. Our candidate for mayor is devoted and dedicated and not interested in dropping politician once he gets it. Our town was a metropolis...briefly, but because we allowed anyone and everyone to move in, we didn't have a solid base of active players. Now we're flooded with houses that have inactive owners and votes that are tied to an absentee incumbent. Hopefully we will get enough votes to elect the new mayor and then the changes can begin.

Concerning City chat. Maybe this should be something added to the tree, or just a general feature for any city at or above x size. There ARE Global chat channels people can create and join, until the DEV do something automatic, why not create one of these and send an email to all of your residents that its there.
