is it possible, and if so, does anyone have any experience with it?
Did the defensive bonuses work, specifically?

It appears that the only thing that is working is the cost.
Bonuses are clearly defined as 50% vs other players and we have had combat with and withouta person on militia and there are no apparent differences. You would think there would be with a 50% increase.
There are no identifiers in the abilities list of the militia members.
Too bad I can't get a city refund for the 150k

i don't know. we have the "research" specialization, and we are convinced we are seeing less cf and more "great" and "amazing" results.
we recently tried the "medical" society, and it works for sure, a full 10% addition to buffs.
i just wonder about that stronghold spec.
help!!!!!

Well there are several cities that claim to use the stronghold specialisation for advantage in the GCW - I would expect that they wouldn't do it just for the (Stronghold)-Message when entering the city - but on the other hand, several people doubt that the manufactur or reseach center specials work
Maybe you'd want to vote it as one of the "top 10 questions" (see Pappi's 19 questions thread)
