Thread: Mayor for the Week Program
After reading this overa few times, there's only one word that comes to mind - WHY ?
I'm I a little mesmerized as towhy one would do want to do this. What's the point ?
There's absolutely no reason:
- to ask citizens to frequently go to the Polls to vote
- for a player(s) to spend 500 apprenticeship points to become a Novice politician
- fora candidatplayers to attempt to get 50+1 votes
- for a Novice politician with few skills to run a city
just toplay mayor for a week.
I would think your citizens will get fed up:
- having to go to the polls every week to vote for someone
- not knowing who is actually 'really' managing and responsible for the city
- not know the level of political skill one mayor has and the next mayor
Most players are perfectly fine not everbeing mayor. Mayors who devote theirtime, money and energy to become the mayor are there for the longhaul. There's definately better ways then this to get citizens involved.

I understand that sometimes we (meaning politicians) just want a "thanks" or a nice pat on the back "Good job!". And that may be the impetus for your program.
I'm certain that the majority of my citizens have no idea all the hard work and time that goes into being a mayor. Even still, most of them know I work hard and for the most part enjoy my position.
For those who want to share in the fun (there is fun) of running a city, I've begun setting up a small government and created some positions for others to fill. This gives them some responsibility should they want it, but not take away from any of my own tasks.
In the end, we are left with a stronger city. A city that can function nearly round the clock because it has citizens who are knowledgeable about the workings of the town and have the authority to make decisions even with the mayor being around.
