This whole 'city cap' thing is total **edit**. All the planets on our server are full up. Dev! Remove the caps! It's not our fault we wasn't in the mad rush to place cities like every single PA in the game. We are a group of PA's that decided to wait and work together to place a city. To bad we can't now. =(

You have to have a cap. why would a planet have that many cities in such a small area. 10 is already too much on certain planets, plus the default cities.

In the near future it is being changed for the better; outposts don't count against the cap. Also, the caps will be raised as long as the servers can handle it. These caps they are using right now are low purposely, because they will start low, then slowly raise the caps until the servers show stress.

Hello, just need to vent for a moment in a place where a dev or someone who could change things might notice. Our city, Old Republic, Naboo on the Flurry server, has been over the level 4 requirement for about three months now. Each week the mayor gets a message that we are qualified, but that we cannot get to level four because Naboo is at its limit for that level of city. I understand this is a limit, but wow does it ever stink. Now, I am forced to present my guild with the dilemna of abandoning all we have worked for and supported over the months (nearly 10M sits in the city treasury). I know members will leave the guild because of this. To me, this cap is flawed and a waste of time and money. If we knew we would be sitting at level three and not have an opportunity to advance, our guild would have never invested the time, money and effort into salvaging this historic city. There are four other level three cities waiting for advancement on our server on Naboo. One particular city now has over 70 residents, and there is sits at level three. The likelyhood of Old Republic ever getting a shuttle is nil, unless by some miracle SOE decides the cap is silly (which it is). Is there any news on this, any hope at all?

If you post "why don't you just move" as a reply don't bother. Any time an upheaval of this magnitude is undertaken by ANY guild, the guild will surely loose members and the faith of those that bought into the city (there's your answer to the dumb, obvious question)

Thanks,

Our city is capped for about 10+ month now

but our major concern is not just the caps but the BUGGED caps

2 weeks agoi was checking Bria/Naboo and found

3 lvl 4 cities , strange?

and 9....i repeat 9 Metropolis class cities

that s 4 more lvl 5 cities than allowed and a total of 2 lvl 4+ cities than allowed

so how s that possible? we are getting the %$&§"$ Screw your City mail since the beginning of the 2nd generation cities but seemingly for several cities the cap are not counting and they just can ignore them

i started to inform the CSRs about the bugged capped about 6 months ago but i ve just wasted a lot of time with CSRs and their supervisor and the result was

"Sorry we can t help you (cause we ve no idea what you are talking about) We ll inform the devs, please be patient and wait"

Don t expect any help from anyone, cause no one cares about it.

And the only answer you ll get on the forums will be

a) "stop whining"

b) "join another city"

c) "dont play swg"

and the changes to see the promised politician/city revamp withing the next 6 months are close to 0, cause next will be the CB and then GCW (where we might get some attention)

Wow, ten months. Well, this sounds kind of futile at this point then. Perhaps the moderator could share a little info, otherwise it looks like we are moving.

To answer your question about the strange naboo/bria city system let me tell you the story.

THis time last year my city on naboo had that problem.. we could never get to level 4 because naboo has a 10 city cap for cities level 4 and higher. This means that the total number of level 4 and level 5 cities cannot exceed 10. EXAMPLE: IF there are3 level 4 cities and 7 level 5 cities.. thats 7+3=10 and the cap is reached. This sucked cause the only reason why this happened was because the first month of player cities i got screwed placing a city hall cause I could not be on 24 hour standby. The bria server came up at about 2 pm est and I alreadyhad taken the morning off from work in order to place it.So i had to go to work for three hours and of course in that three hour period BAM the server came up.I was very pissed.

So what could we do but wait for a chance. A plan was developed and in short we forced a level 5 city on naboo to move. Now there is more.....

My guild/city being the only people aware of the city moving watched closely as it dropped to level 3. Two days later my city was to have its city refresh. Curious about the other cities on naboo that were level 3 i checked them all out and to my dismay two other cities had enough citizens for level 4. On top of that there city update time was the EXACT same second as mine.. all three of us had the same time. So now i am like W*T*F do we do? I submitted a ticket asking them about it but no response. I later figured that there are three genre of cities that exist. The first is what i call the "first generation" cities that were placed right after the server went up on the day player cities were implemented. Then there was the Second Generation cities which were placed when the server came upone month later when the patch expanded the city limits on each planet. The thrid generation cities are everything else placed at random times throughout the past year.

So it became known to me at that timethat all first generation cities had the exact same UPDATE time, and all the second generation ones had the exact same UPDATE time but different from the first.

So what ended up happening on that city update day... all THREE cities were bumped up to level 4 city and able to have a shuttle. That is right on naboo for a while there were 12 cities with shuttles when there should only have been 10

I am mayor for a level 3 city on Tatooine (Bria)

My city is only a few months old. I know that there is a city cap on planets and I am not sure of other servers on how crowded they are getting. I have noticed that on most Bria planets there is very little or any space left at all that does not have some type of structure or extractor sitting on it. My concern is that with all this population and only so many planets, what is SOE's plan for the future? SWG is only a little of a year old. What would be the problem with possibly opening up Endor or Dath for player cities, or even creating a few new planets to level out the mass populations of cities. For people that have already invested so much into a city and to later find out that there is a rediculous city cap is uncalled for. I searched all over for info on the city cap and the only place i found it was from a forwarded email of a trouble ticket my friend got from a CSR. None of this info is listed in the holocron, or am I wrong?

Seeing how SWG is (Star Wars GALAXIES) what would be the issue of creating a few new planets? I was hoping to just have my city wait it out at level 3 to move up to 4, but as it seems the other level 4 and above cities are not going anywhere and my city and guild is doomed to be enslaved at level 3 until then.

Any feedback on this would be appreciated... - Lets try and push for a change in SWG, maybe a petition or a poll. The DEV's or CSR have to do something about it! The only reason they have a job is because of US! The Customer who pays for their product and gives them a pay check.

one of those level 4 cities has fallen several months ago and there are still 12 cities lvl 4+

and about half a year ago one of the devs confirmed that when several cities updating at the same time, like you mentioned, the city with the most citizens will advance and NOT all of them. So what you describe is a bug and it s known to the CSR.

i m sure that most cities on Bria/Naboo don t want to get a bug fix cause are happy at lvl 4/5 but there are some cities getting screwed over and over and we are tired hearing from people
"nice city but i m not joining cause you ve no shuttleport"

oh and all original 2nd gen cities here are also updating the same time, cause when they raised the caps, naboo was full in minutes.
