... and it says I can't do it so close to X city. I go to the waypoint it gives me, and sure enough there is a city there not on the map. So with their City Hall as a waypoint, i go back to my spot, and at precisely 900 meters away from their city hall, I try to put down the city hall. Same message. I go out to a 1000 meteres. Same message.

Does anyone know why? Is it becuase I put down a guild hall in the area first? What happens when you want to put down a City Hall and there are already houses in the area, even though there is no city there?

Sooooo frustrating, I am getting ready to give up politician. I literally scoured 2 planets, found the perfect spot for my outpost... I really never intended on growing it past level 1 or 2 at the most.

It should work at 1000m provided you're not colliding with another city. That's the only reason you should be getting that message. It doesn't matter if there are other houses around, only other city halls. Regardless of caps and how far you plan on taking your city, it always allows for the full potential of a player city when it comes to placing.

There's no real way to know for sure if another city is there. The best advice I can offer is to take a look at your planetary map and look for mission terminals that seem to be in the middle of nowhere. That's really the only indication of other player cities that aren't high enough rank to be registered or ones that just aren't registered.

I would suggest trying to find a good spot about 2k away, this way you are sure to be clear. Check for cities as described in previous post. If you see 3 together, it is one city. Mission terminals cant be placed out in the open without a city and a city needs to be a level 3 before it can be viewed on the map.

There are city caps on planets and it varies. Not sure of the message you get if the planet is capped. Below is a list from the FAQ stickied to the top if this forum. So if you are trying to place on Naboo and 20 cities exist (regardless of level) you will not be able to place a another city on Naboo until one drops.

May also want to consider one of the higher capped planets like Dant or Talus. These planets have a higher caps on level 3 & 4. It stinks to build up to a level 4 city on Naboo to find you cant have a shuttle because of the 15 cap on level 4 cities, where Dant has a 30 cap on level 4 cities. Just something to consider down the rode that can be easily overlooked.

Hope this helps .....

-------------------------------------------------

The new limits are as follows (The first number is the total cap. The second is how many can be rank 3 or above. The third is how many can grow to rank 4 or above.):

Corellia: 20, 15, 10
Dantooine: 50, 30, 20
Lok: 50, 30, 20
Naboo: 20, 15, 10
Rori: 50, 30, 20
Talus: 50, 30, 20
Tatooine: 20, 15, 10

It does, thanks. I don't get the message I used to that went with planet caps, this message lists a very specific city everytime, stating I am too near to it. Unfortunately, I love the spot that I found so much that I don't know if I will be able to find another one like it.

does it give a hint to what size the other city was? if so then try going 1000m away from the outside boarder of that city or just maybe 1500m away from the waypoint to ensure that it won't overlap the boundary the server still thinks is there
