Im a master politician in a lvl 4 city. I want to retire. Im just a bit concerned about what happens when a novice politician takes over. Will all the stuff that I have put down as master politician dissapear ?
What happens when a novice politician takes over a master politicians city?

Well nothing happens when a novice takes over, everything stays the same. The new novice mayor can't change much until they gainskills, so you will see the same gardens and such for a long time.

Are there any posts out there or anyone that could give an idea how much time it takes to get from a novice politician to a master?

Kinda hard to tell. You get 300xp per vote per election which is every 3 weeks. Plus you get 750xp every week. So it will kinda be based on your active citizen count and how many you can get to actually get to go to city hall and vote.
It takes 56k of xp to master. If you manage to get 30 people to vote in each election, that would be 9k. I beleive you wont actually get the 750 per week until you are the mayor. So without the 750 per week, it would take 7 elections or 21 weeks to get 56k based on 30 citizens voting. Once you are mayor, you can also add 2250xp to the equation which will yeild 11,500 every 3 weeks, then only being 5 elections or 15 weeks.
You will need to put your name in the race for mayor after each election and the citizens will have to physically go to the ballot box and revote after each election.
Since the city is a level 4, you have at least 55 citizens. So the more that are active and you can get to vote, it can take less time.
Hope this helps .....

Thanks Frenzi, kinda had too read up with starting a new city
Still only 2-1-2-1 on politician tree, but enough to get things done.
Read in another post that you were considering it, think it was the Haven post. Stop in sometime and see what we have done, starting to come together & look un-deserted. (Dant waypoint -2444 / 1407). Dont hesitate to hollar if you have a question.
