This is also under the boards of In development, under make the game more starwarsy and bounty hunter boardbut i wanna see what you guys think here too.

All these methods are player caused only. Just like the jedi bounties....

NPC Bounties and Faction Ideas.

If you have -5000 jabba faction, you should have a static npc bounty hunter spawn every3to6 days to confront you for his/her bounty. This way its not all the time, but yet it happens enough to maybe change your attitude with jabba. Only happens at -5000.

If you have -5000 nym, same applies as jabba's.

If you have -5000 valarian, same applies as jabba's.

If you have -5000 thug faction, you should be cautious around thugs. They could steal a random item from you, and burstrun. If you can't catch them, you may have to ask a bounty hunter to track them down(Player Bounty Hunter). The thug's that can steal from you also have 3 times as more health action and mind.

If you have -1000 Townsperson faction, upon entering a non-player city town....you will have a 20% chance of being interrogated by city police. Each -1000 you go up,the % you get interrogated will go up by 20.If they interrogate you, youwill be attacked(1 red star, 2 yellow star, and 3 white star).

Player Bounties and Faction ideas.

You should be able to steal things from players, this is one way you COULD end up as a bounty from players. 1 Randomitem every 24 hours of gameplay time.If the stealer steals something, it must stay in their inventory for 24 hours(gameplay time) So they may try to avoid the bounty hunters and keep the item without losing it, but also still have a great chance of getting killed as well and getting it taken and given backto the rightful owner. If the bounty is collected before the 24 hours are up, the bounty hunter should be able to loot the dead body but only be able to loot the stolenitem.the player should recieve the stolen item from the bounty hunter, and the bounty hunter should be rewarded with credits. (This is the only player bountie that i can think of that will not cause greif, but i may have more to come)

Mayors in player cities may have2 new skills. They see thetpwns person and thug factionsof players by /examine. The 2nd skill will depend on the citie's faction. If it's a bad reputation city(Majority of thepeople wholive within the city that havegood thug faction)it will be considered abad town(sort of like a bad neighborhood). If it's a good reputation city(Majority of the people who live within the city that have a good towns-person faction)it will be considered a good town. The 2nd new skill of the mayor will be able to interrogate player's that enter the city. If the player's faction matches the town's faction, then nothing happens. If the player's faction is the opposite of the faction of the city, the playerwill get a TEF(temporary enemy flag)(depending on how far down your faction is). When the mayor interrogates it will work just like a non-player town. If the player has -5000 towns person faction and the town is a good town, then there is an automatic tef, but if it's only -1000 then their is only a 20% chance the player gets a tef.

Summary: These are just a few things i had in my head that i needed to get out. Player and Npcbounties could be worked out. Also, if the player dies from a player to player bounty, they are off the terminals. Anyone should be able to goto a bounty hunting terminal and put the name they want to get a bounty. Only if the person you want a bounty for has commited a crime that can be put on the boards(stealing for example) will be added. You should get a system message when the personhas stole anitem from you. The system message will enable you to put enter the name of theplayer you want to have killed and check mark theboxStolen goods.I think this would be the best way for player bounties to be made, and i really don't see a problem with this method either.

Alright, thats about it, Please post what you think.

I like the idea of a good/bad faction town (other than the faction reb/imp) - of course you would have to give visitors a clear and early warning befor entering the town what they have to expect - since everything considering PvP has to be consentual. Also it might be tricky for the system to calculate if a city is good/bad. Even in a city with a lot of bad people, a mayor with a rel. strong mitlia force should be able to influence the overall good/bad faction of the city. Maybe he can spend Poli XP on NPC Milita that turn the faction to good (even if many "bad" people live there)

On stealing: it isn't a new idea, but I think the devs have made it clear that this will never happen in SWG. I think it's a nice idea to bring a bit more realism into the game ... but only nice for people who are into combat and who don't care that much about losing one of their very rare and very expensive items (and I think these people are very rare to find) ... No mater how many rules and restricions you try to build into your stealing system (24 hours - faction points ...) - only stealing 1 time is already grief for the person who is robed - just look at the reactions to the rumor of faction NPCs stealing contrabound items from you in the imperial crackdown.

Only scenario where I could see stealing as being consentual (like PvP it has to be) would be if you get to chose a crime faction - this could then enable you to steal but also put you at risk of getting items stolen. This should of course require you to invest skill points into a thief profession - But I really think this is very far fetched from ever getting into the game.

I also agree that the idea of differenht factional towns other than the basic Imperial/Rebel scenarios. Things need to be done in all areas of the game to improve content and fun for all involved, and stealing would nto be one of them the forums would eb full of people complaining , petitions everywhere.

I suppose your heads in teh right place things need to be done.
