if you are running against the encumbant mayor..by how many votes do you have to beat him in order to win the race? what is the majority?

You do not need a majority. YOu just need 1 vote more than the guy with the 2nd most votes.

For example, city has 100 citizens.

30 people fail to vote, all those votes go to the incumbent (current mayor)

45 people vote for you.

14 people vote for the current mayor.

11 people vote for someone else.

The current mayor got 44 votes, you got 45, and 11 votes went somewhere else. You win!.

yes, its a "first past the post" system.. he who has the most votes wins.

hmm well then i suppose our city is bugged. what a shocker. we wanted to boot the mayor of our city out and start fresh..so we had a guild member run against the encumbant. the guild member had one more vote than the encumbant mayor, yet the encumbant mayor is still the mayor! ugh. which is why we thought there had to be some sort of huge majority :/ guess not. thanks for the info though.

This seems to be a known problem as Kivan is having the same one in what seems to be a more hostile transition of power.

Rules of simple majority: total votes divided by 2, then add 1.

the incumbant mayor even dropped politician and still won the race this week!!!!!!! lol. guess the only thing to do would be to report it.

Submit a CSR ticket. They will be able to check the XP logs if anything and notice that you got more xp than the currenty mayor which means you got more votes
