Thread: Discuss gameplay mechanics for Diplomatic Council and other intercity systems.
I see we are going to suggest to the devs a Diplomatic Council or some form of gameplay that mayors can engage in with other mayors.
How will this work? Where is their gameplay here beyond having a chat channel that only mayors can access?
Some of my ideas are:
Sister Cities -Sister cities would be able to share their specializations. This would be limited to any two cities and would require each Mayor to invite/join each city. An additional fee would be added to the city, roughly 3/4 of the cost of the shared specialization. This way a crafting town could also get the job-market bonus and vice versa. This should be a Master Politician skill and it should also cost a certain amount of xp each week to maintain the alliance, 5000 xp per politician. Sister cities could be from different planets, but no from different factional allignment. This also goes for neutrals, who could only align with other neutral cities.
City Wars - Factionally aligned cities can declare war against another city from a different faction. All members of the militia willparticipate incity wars, and non-members can participate on raids on opposing cities. Any member of the opposing faction entering your city will automaticly geta TEF even if they are covert. The city treasuries would be the pool of income that these wars would be fought with.
City A attacks City B
City A defeats citizen from City B = +500 credits for City A and -350 credits for City B
City A is defeated by citizen from City B = -200 credits for City A +200 creduts for City B
Thus, with enough raiding going on, a city could be destroyed because its bank account would be empty. To prevent abuses, crafters within each city would not have to participate in the wars unless they wanted to.
Please continue with your own ideas and/or modifactions of these ideas. I'm sure the time will come when the devs will want more details on how we think "Diplomacy" should be played ![]()
I love this topic, and love to see new system proposals and design ideas. When... ...and I say "when" not "if" because I'm thinking positively, not because I know anything
... ...the devs get around to adding abilities to the Politician profession, I'd like to be able to send them a barrage of links to cool ideas that will give them all the material they could ever look for.
Keep the ideas flowing. Mostly cause its fun to read them. ![]()
Part of City Wars could be the:
Trade Embargo Skill - Ban enemies from using vendors
Hired Spies - Requires a bounty hunter from your town and requires money from the city coffers. For a period of 24 hours, the spy can go into the enemies town and they will not recieve a TEF.
Industrial Sabotage - All harvesters and factories within city limits can be destroyed by your enemy.
