Thread: An interesting replacement for /citywarn. (This may be old)

I was talking with one of our citizens the other day, and he had a great idea for replacing /citywarn.

Essentially, cities could hire NPC guards/mercenaries. Only those on the /cityban list would be attackable on sight by these NPCs. Others who attacked them would also be TEF'd for the city guards and be attackable.

To prevent people xp farming them, just make them always give 1xp for weapon skill and 1xp for combat. Or none, if possible within the code.

They would function like other city improvements, perhaps with placeable watchtowers or guardhouses (about the size of a merchant tent).

There'd be an upkeep cost, perhaps similar to a small or medium garden per guard spawn point. If killed, the guards would eventually respawn.

As far as # of guards goes, it could be tied to city size, mayor skill (like experiment points) or both.

Thoughts?

Unfortunately, that would effectively return us to the problems of static spawn blockage. If they're aren't enough guards to keep banned folks out, they're just a minor nuisance quickly blown through by vehicle. If they are too many guards then they block static spawn that the city camped.

Personally, I think the best solution is to just have /cityban prevent the player from entering all structures in the city, except any structure that person owns. The player can't take advantage of the shuttleport, they can't shop the vendors, no medical or cantina use andthey are not a citizen so can't vote. They're effectively shunned from the city without being physically removed.
