I'm a new politician and have just procured a deed to a capital. I'm getting ready to take the next step attract new people to build houses. But wait, I've just blown a ton of money and looking at spending even more to offer houses at a discount as an attraction - by why? In reading the resource board, all of the city revenues go into the city treasury - that is if you can get tax revenue. The maintenance costs are apparently high.Do I have any way of getting reimbursed for my expenses.

Not only that, I apparently can get voted out of office after I do all of the work to get the city established. Would it make better sense to just run for Mayor somewhere else.

The idea still appeals to me but I would like some way of getting reimbursed for some of my costs. Is this possible?

Its a lot of work, and the rewards are primarily non-monetary.

nothing but a skill point sink, i have spent more time wasted with making sure the city didnt fall apart.

and in the end the city will fall.

This is definately not the profession for you if you think you will get something out of it.

If you paid personally for the city structures, well nice, but unless residents pay you personally you won't see a cent.

The treasury is made up of donations and taxes. If you take any money out, all the citizens get an email saying you did. Plus the maintenance fees for the city are huge, so you prolly don't wanna touch the money cos the city will poof when you have no money for maintenance in the treasury.

Not to mention that you get to spend all your time receiving /tells from everyone on subjects as far ranging as "can you grant me zoning rights so I can place a house", "When are we getting a shuttleport?", "Can you add a Jedi trainer?", "I want a garden in front of my house" etc etc.

Being a mayor is not a job that has any rewards beyond the feeling of helping out others and managing a city. You will spend a lot of time, get some thanks, but not a lot, and you collect no salary. You can get money if you have another profession to do while you are politician.

A city is for the citizens, not the mayor.

Hanzsolo if u are really wanting to be a mayor I have a proposition for you if you on starsider's server.Our city is currently searching for a new mayor.We are a rebel guild and neutral city.The city is Kapu Valley on Lok.We have 30+ people in the city and 20+ guild members and its growing everyday.its a fairly new city.If interested email me ingame.

My city has been a labor of love. I wanted to get a nice city built and get it to class 5. I donated every city structure, every decoration, 1million in cash, and a ton of discounted houses. All in all it has probably cost me 2-4 million credits. I know some mayors take a salary, but I don't see the point in that.

Now that the city is up and there isn't much to do, I would be more than happy to turn over mayor to someone else.
