I have been seeing a lot of posts in the flurry area I assume in jest however it got me thinking. I have always wondered about the next steps as far as the political profession and although we do have a lot of problems on our plate now I was wondering what are the chances of creating the ability to run for governor of a planet?
I assume placing a ballot box in the planets capital and granting it the ability to accept existing mayors, as running for Governor, would not be a problem however mass amounts of players going there would be an issue I assume. Its just a thought on the question all Master politicians have now (other then the obvious lack of skills for master) “what now”?

It's hard enough to get players to care about voting in their own cities that they should care about let alone voting for a position they never will.
Traffic wouldn't be a problem. I like it but doubt it as it would be too much effort for very little payoff... 1 player per planet. Just not worth the time.

Actually I'm enjoying Politician so much I am planning to keep it until they DO release the elite profession(s). If the abilities of the senator are impressive enough I believe there would be enough interest from the masses to support a person willing to take that route.
Possibilities:
- if factioned, imagine a bonus for those that share the same view.
- reduce structure related placement issues making it easier to place harvies
- create the ability to allow players to create missions for other players
- bribe factions to improve relations for a person (for a cost of course)
- enable planet wide specializations such as improved mining/manufacturing/etc different from city specs though
- ability to place a starport in player cities (limited number of course)
- ability to grant mayors the zone areas for planetary wonders (nothing but eye candy but could draw a crowd -> increased traffic flow)
- produce a commodity that can be traded to other planets for tax breaks (reduce city expenses)
I'm sure we could come up with other ideas as well, this is just a few rough thoughts I've had while sitting at my desk.

Well I'm not waiting for it to be released, I'll just roleplay my self into the position.

I guess when I first got interested in this profession it made me think of the Movies and the government it seemed to have in it. I am not a Star Wars “fanboy” (I wish I was somedays) I cannot tell you details about it however from what I do remember it seems likely they can put that into this game. it seems like a logical thing to do and I really think it would make a lot more people want to be this profession, make it that much more fun, and keep the profession interesting. As I am sure all of you in it know right now its more RP then function (the things we can do). Especially when you go head to head with any other profession.
Oh and on the vote, yes It was hard at frist to get them to vote that one time (for me becuse they really did not understand the "how to" of it when it first came live), but as we all know they do not have to go back and vote after that its all auto. Besides just like RL if they do not vote and someone gets in they do not like, then they really do not have room to gripe about it.
